Neighborhoods

This neighborhood, known as Animas, is where Casa Cafe y Arte is located. While you are only a short walk to the Centro (where the Parroquia (SMA's main cathedral) is located, this quaint neighborhood has some gems of its own. Just around the corner from our home is a small "mom and pop" convenience store owned by an elderly couple who have lived in Animas most of their lives. About a block and a half away from the house is the beautiful hotel - Live Aqua. Great for drinks, amazing food, and of great photographs.

Food scene

Just a 3 minute walk from Casa Cafe y Arte, you will come upon one of San Miguel's newest and classiest hotels, the Live Aqua. We enjoy walking here to have drinks or dinner. The menu is on the higher end of prices in San Miguel, but still a bargain!

If you're in the mood for some seriously authentic and home-cooked Mexican meal, we highly encourage you to have breakfast or lunch at El Antiguo Tepeyac. Owned by a modest and caring couple, El Antiguo Tepeyac has delicious traditional food at seriously affordable prices. My wife and I have breakfast here often for about $12-15 dollars! We HIGHLY recommend the Cafe de Olla (Coffee brewed in a pot) - a yummy sweet and cinnamonie cup of joe!

Sightseeing

"Intricate, pink pinnacles poking through the skyline will help you locate the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, a towering parish church overlooking El Jardin from the southern side of the plaza. The prominent church's neo-Gothic design is the vision of the self-taught stonemason and architect Zeferino Gutiérrez, who is rumored to have used European lithographs of Belgian and German churches for artistic inspiration. Visitors often use the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel as a point of reference when navigating the city's winding streets. But when you're not relying on the church for navigation, travelers recommend spending extra time gazing at the castle-like structure." U.S. News & World Report
