"Beach Shack is a Family owned oceanfront bar with beautiful deck and tiki hut overlooking Cocoa Beach. They offer a great variety of live bands from Thursday through Sunday. Enjoy a cold drink and listen to the daytime bands while eating a wood fire pizza or delicious sandwich from Little Zs ordered straight from the bar. Everyone has a great time at the Beach Shack! If you see a tall beautiful blonde, chances are it’s the owner Connie, say hello, she’s fantastic.

Approximately 90% of the sea turtle eggs in the US are laid in Florida. Because of the huge number of sea turtles at nest on our area beaches and at forage in the Indian river lagoon, a group of concern Brevard County citizens, in 1984, formed a grassroots organization to help protect them. This group, the sea turtle preservation Society was incorporated in 1986. The statement was simply helping sea turtles survive. Brevard county is a very important natural habitat for marine turtles. The county is unique because the Atlantic beaches and the Indian River Lagoon system spans its entire 72 mile length. This strategic location serves as nesting and foraging sites for three species of sea turtles, the loggerhead, the green turtle and the leather back.

The Thousand Islands – 2.0 miles, 6 minute drive http://www.visitspacecoast.com/listings/thousand-islands-conservation-area/942/ The thousand islands are aggressive natural, modified, and spoil islands in the Banana River Lagoon, Cocoa Beach, and Brevard County, Florida. From the late 1950s to the early 1970s the islands were re-shaped by development and efforts to control mosquitoes as a population of Brevard grew during the initial period of the space program at Cape Canaveral and Kennedy space Center. Our area offers kayak tours if you want to get an up close and personal view of this beautiful area. Did you know: Sediment cores reveal that the Thousand Islands were formed when a storm-driven sea broke through the barrier island, leaving behind an approximately 900 acres (360 ha) flood tide delta deposit.
