Visit the Two Bridges Hotel for food & drinks, the home of 'The Hairy Hand'. After go on a circular walk to Wistmans Woods, allow 2hours for this and wear comfortable walking shoes. 35minutes drive.

Home to the iconic Dartmoor prison, this village is in the middle of Dartmoor. Visit the Dartmoor Prison museum, grab a coffee from a cafe and your necessities from the local shop. Visit the Two Bridges Hotel for food & drinks, the home of 'The Hairy Hand'. After go on a circular walk to Wistmans Woods, allow 2hours for this and wear comfortable walking shoes. 35minutes drive.

And then the cafe itself gives you a warm comfy feeling, the staff are so accommodating and the food is amazing. Highly recommend the cream tea for two or the breakfast. Perfect place to grab some food, let the kids explore and get necessities for back at the barn. 30minute drive from the barn, passing through Bovey Tracey, and a 5minute drive from Haytor if you wish to make the most of your day.

If you have a national trust membership, then access to this place is free! Lovely walks around the garden, dog friendly (except inside the castle), cafe, trails and a castle to explore. 25minutes via car, and right next to Fingle Bridge. Make a day of it.

Beautiful views, streams to play in, explore the woodlands and see the Dartmoor Ponies . Dog friendly, toilets and picnic areas. Tranquil, one of my favourite places to visit with the dogs and children. Please keep dogs under control when the ponies are present. 30 minutes drive from The Old Barn.
Only 1 mile down the road, is Steps Bridge. A lovely walk along the side of the river as well as a woodland to explore. Lovely views. Beautiful all year around.

One of the 3 oak woodlands on Dartmoor, Wistmans woods offers a circular walk, across the moor and over Tors, which you should allow 2 hours for. The tree's within the woods are predicated to be around 400years old. There is also a legend tied to the woodlands too, from the sacred druids grove, to the wisht hounds, pixies and hauntings. Dog friendly. 25minutes drive from The Old Barn, near Princetown, and you pass Postbridge on the way too.
