Experience the sights, sounds and smells of the jungle as you walk through the oceanic islands, Malaysia, West Africa and tropical South America in the largest greenhouse in the world: the Humid Tropics Biome. Then walk through the Warm Temperate Biome showcasing the Mediterranean, South Africa and California. Learn about the plants that you see day to day as well as the weird and the wacky. The Core, Eden's Education Centre, is home to the Seed, a sculpture made from a single piece of granite that weighs as much as ten elephants. The Core is also the place to see exhibitions that show the importance of the world of plants as well as different films, talk and children's workshops. There are various play areas around the site including mazes made of willow, large instruments to play, a wooden ship to climb, a sand pit and a gigantic nutcracker to wind. You can walk down the winding paths or you can ride on the land train tractor. There are also a variety of exciting activities on offer, with ice skating through the winter, and exhilarating 66m sky wire ride over the Biomes and a rock climbing wall, as well as events throughout the year to celebrate the seasons. Kick things off on SkyRaker, travel into the stratosphere on the Space Shuttle and take to the high seas on the Rocking Tug. In short, expect the unexpected at Flambards with rides galore! Which ride will you pick first? Tiny tots love The Pirate Ship for seafaring exploration, while the knee-knocking Hornet rollercoaster is sure to have kids (and a few of the grown-ups) squealing the whole way round. Each and every ride is packed with thrills and family fun, from the balloon race to a properly traditional carousel, so see how many you can stuff into one day. Where else could you go on a prehistoric journey just after a trip to a Victorian village? Or learn about Britain in the Blitz after digging up dinosaur fossils? Chances are nowhere else has quite the same mash-up of eras and ideas, and all are executed in precise, life-size detail. Rides aplenty! Jump on a rollercoaster or commandeer a pirate ship Historic adventures with added dinos!

Jump aboard a steam engine and journey on through the beautiful, Cornish countryside at Lappa Valley Steam Railway. A nature park awaits you with plenty to see and explore. With another two railways to explore this is the ultimate paradise for train lovers, a real life Thomas the Tank Engine experience. The kids can let off some steam (pardon the pun) in one of the many family-friendly activity zones. Go crazy over a game of mini golf, or canoe and paddle your way over the lake. The woodland walk will whisk you away on a nature trail full of discovering. Carrying on the fun, kids can hop and climb their way over and under the adventure playground. Get dizzy on the swinging roundabout, or play driver on the play trains and ships. Play in the soft play area or try your hand at table football in the indoor play carriages. The Whistle Stop Cafe will provide the whole family with the perfect after play refuel, including a delicious kids menu. Three Railways Adventure Playground Indoor Play Carriages ✖

I haven’t been here, but my brother and family recently visited with my 8 year old niece and they had a great day. There’s something for everyone at Hidden Valley. Drive down the winding, tree-lined lane to a place where puzzles and adventure awaits. Follow the puzzle trails, find your way to the Forbidden Mansion and take in the village of Tremuddlewick. Watch the miniature railway travel through landscaped gardens, get lost in the Maze, hop on the Porterswick Junction Light Railway and arrive back at the café for a scrumptious snack. Hidden Valley is a discovery park for all ages, located just outside Launceston in Cornwall off the A30/A395. There is ample free parking. Entry is by booked tickets only. Dogs are welcome on all outside trails and must be kept on short fixed leads (retractable leads are not permitted). Dogs are not allowed in the Forbidden Mansion.

A trip to the charming Screech Owl Sanctuary is a good choice for kids of all ages. Not only do they care for and rehabilitate sick owls in Cornwall, they also promote awareness of the conservation needs of owls so you're combing a really morally worthwhile visit with the fun chance to look at their hooters. They help promote conservation by informing and enabling visitors to see and touch a variety of owls, from some of the smallest to some of the largest in the world! The area is accessible throughout the day and there is always a friendly member of staff available to tell you fascinating facts and answer any questions. This is a great chance for kids to get up close to owls and learn about wildlife conservation. You can also see miniature Shetland ponies, Pygmy goats, emus and alpacas in the petting zoo. If you fancy some extras, there are guided tours and flying displays. Flying experiences are wonderfully popular and need to be booked in advance, so please allow up to 4 week's notice. And as well as all that you've got the lovely little outdoor adventure play area with equipment including swish slides, climbing features, monkey bars and swings. That's all right next to the picnic tables so the grown-ups can relax and get the picnic ready for munching on while the kids are running about 'owling.

Springfields Fun Park and Pony Centre is a great day out for all the family set in glorious Cornish countryside. Take a train ride around the park and stop to feed the fish or help bottle feed the lambs. It's all “hands on” the children don't just watch the feeding they get involved. Have a bet on the duck race, groom a pony or cuddle a bunny: there's so much to do with activities going on throughout the day. The Pony Show is designed so that even the youngest visitor won't get bored giving a brief explanation about the ponies. The show ends with the ponies racing around as fast as their little legs can carry them. If you fancy a pony or a carriage ride then there are rides available throughout the day for a small additional cost. Try rowing a boat around the boating lake or hop on a pedal go kart or a trampoline. As children explore the park they will discover a pirate ship, a fort, zip wires and a mega slide. And if there is an unseasonal shower the large indoor play barn offers a multi level play zone, slides and a secret enchanted wood. Mawgan's cafe sells a variety of hot and cold food and drinks as well as ice creams and sweets. There are lots of grassy areas and picnic tables for you enjoy lunch. There is simply no better place to spend a day than Springfield's Fun Park and Pony Centre. ✖
