Sightseeing
Just a cpl minutes past Harbor Island, and so worth it. Hunting island is the most unique Atlantic beach I’ve ever been to in the US. If feels like a truly tropical Island. The surf is a lot higher than on Harbor Island, which makes for fun water sports, and the beaches are gorgeous too.
Climb the historic lighthouse, and see for miles! In the summer I’d recommend early morning, for comfortability.
There is also a nature center to explore, and picnic/bathroom areas.

To me, it feels like a mini Charleston with it’s gorgeous Antebellum homes overlooking the bay framed with Live Oaks.
You can even take a carriage ride for a different view and experience while learning more about the history from a seasoned guide.

Harbour Key is a private enclave within Harbor Island. We have our own security gate. We love Harbor Key because there is absolutely no through traffic from the rest of Harbor Island, so it stays pretty serene. Island beach access, and amenities are about a mile away past the main security gate. We take the cart 95% of the time when we access these amenities, but you can bring your car of course if you’d like.
Parking areas are marked for each beach access point, if it’s a busy time and you can’t find parking you’d like, overflow parking will be found in the Racquet club parking lot by the pools.

What to bring
Bring beach towels and gear. If you don’t want to bring beach chairs, they have rentals at The Turtles Nest right by the pool.

Harbor Island is pretty much a nature preserve
Along with beautiful birds, deer, turtles, there are also alligators. Please be aware of surrounding especially with children close to the waters edge of marsh areas.
