Paddle Boarding

The closest place to our little blue house for a great paddle board, this is one of our favourite places to go but the conditions can vary depending on the weather. You’re looking for low wind, little to no waves and ideally when high tide is approaching.

Cardiff Bay and its two feeding rivers can be a great place to paddle board and since it’s not controlled by the tide it’s a lot more consistent and more likely to be still when compared with the open water. Take in the breathtaking views of the city from this epic SUP location. The easiest place to access The Bay is from the landing dock at Cardiff International White Water. It’s a small charge but worth it to use the facilities to wash your board afterwards, the rivers don’t feed the cleanest water into The Bay!

Taking off from Coney Beach in Porthcawl can make for a short but peaceful paddle board as you get to take in the sights of Porthcawl’s pier. With the added bonus of getting an ice cream or some chips from the fair ground when you’re done!

Possibly the best place to paddle board in South Wales. Saundersfoot is set in a consistently calm bay with the opportunity to see local sea life such as jellyfish and even seals or dolphins if you’re fortunate!

Voted the third best beach in the world, Rhossili is home to easily the most stunning views in all of Wales. If you judge the tide well and are brave enough to paddle board across the bay to Worms Head, you may be fortunate enough to see the seals basking on the rocks to the west side of the island.

If you’re more of a SUP surf kind of person, then Rest Bay is the perfect spot for consistent surf with a mixture of small and large waves. It’s also a great place to hire a board or wetsuit from the hire shop above the beach if you haven’t brought your own with you.

A lovely place for a SUP in South Wales that’s just over an hour away from our little blue house. Mumbles is a peaceful place to paddle board, with beautiful views and other surrounding bays. You can also grab a coffee and cake from Mumbles Pier when you’re finished, or as a half-way-SUP snack.
