Must see and do's???

If you're hear on a weekend stay, perhaps you'd consider these as your first choices of things to do. We like coastal walks and trips to coffee shops for coffee and cake, so this is why these things are on our list :) Please ask us for more information if needed.
A delightful place to visit for all ages. It has a castle, cafes, ice cream bars, pubs, restaurants, pretty little shops and a pier from which children of all ages enjoy fishing for crabs. Boat trips to go up and down the Menai Strait and around Puffin Island leave from the pier and fishing trips are also available.

When in Beaumaris, visit here for a wide range of delicious home-made ice cream. Also has a coffee bar and a restaurant space serving family friendly meals. The ice cream though......🤩

A 35 minute drive from our place but worth it for the spectacular views of the lighthouse and cliffs. You can see Ireland on a clear day! Internationally renowned sea-bird colony and a RSPB visitor centre with recently refurbished cafe. Puffins, razorbills, guillemots, fulmars, choughs, peregrine falcons and on and on. Families with young children need to take care on the steep paths and around the cliffs. Check out the RSPB website and search 'South Stack'. Your drive might take longer because of the glorious coastline views on Holy Island. Visit Trarddur Bay on your way back for a walk along the beach and perhaps an ice cream or coffee or meal at the Sea Shanty restaurant or a meal at the Black Seal restaurant.

A good friend, Richard Holt, is the owner at Melin Llynon. A fully restored windmill where Richard will probably give you a guided tour. Richard is a first-class patisserie chef who has worked with Marcus Wareing in London. He returned to Anglesey and set-up his tea-shop in the Mill offering high-class teas with amazing cakes to enjoy (you must pre-book in case the tea rooms are full before you arrive). He has also developed his own brand of gin and chocolate, both of which are available at the mill's gift shop. There is plenty of green space for the children to enjoy, including two recreated roundhouses from the Iron Age. Check the facebook page for the latest opening situation due to covid. Perhaps mention that you're staying with Ian and Rhian - Ian used to play in a band with Rich as well - he is a fantastic guitar player too!!

A beautiful coastal spot on the Northern Anglesey coast. Go here if you want to explore Anglesey's Coastal Path. Two large carparks either side of a shingle beach (free parking) . The shingle beach is part of the Nature Reserve where there a tern colony brings noise and interest every summer. You might well see grey seals swimming close to shore - probably investigating you, the visitor! One of Ian's favourite places! -see "Ian TBT Jones" @komoot for a route plan or speak to Ian, he'll probably ask to join you!!! Combine a visit to Cemlyn with a visit to Cemaes Bay, a pretty fishing village which is 3 miles eastwards.

A pretty little fishing village on the Northern Coast of Anglesey. Cemaes has a lovely little bay with a sandy beach where Ian has fond memories of building sandcastles as a child! Great as a starting point for exploring the coastal path in either direction. Follow the path eastwards and you will come across the isolated church of Llanbadrig where Saint Patrick is said to have made landfall in the pasty. Carry on eastwards and you pass abandoned brickworks in really spectacular coastal scenery and come to a view point which the most northerly point in Wales. A local name for this area is "Yr Ardal Wyllt", which means "The Wild Area". Perhaps this section of the coastal path is unsuitable for young children due to the steep, narrow sections of path..

When you've just arrived and want some fresh air? The beach at Benllech is a 5 minute drive away and has free parking along the sea front. You can enjoy a long walk along the fabulous sandy beach and then, on the drive back, stop for some fish and chips at the Golden Fry. Or stop on the way down, at the Golden Fry, and eat you chips at the beach!!!

This unique and hidden natural gem is a 15 minute walk from the Ty Bach Twt or there is some roadside parking. An absolute natural treasure, it's an SSSI (site of special scientific interest), you can walk into the middle of the marsh on the boardwalks (wellies not needed) and be surrounded by the reeds with all their bustling wildlife. Wild orchids and other rare plants grow all over in summer. Summer warblers nest here. Best in spring and early summer. Especially magical at sunrise but worth the early start. See "Ian TBT Jones" @komoot for a route plan or ask Ian, he'll probably ask to join you!!!

We like to eat here. A lovely setting with fantastic window views over Red Wharf Bay. They are family friendly. Booking is essential during the summer. Good buzz when it's busy and friendly staff.
