Places you ought to visit for the experience and the food!
I've tried to include places that aren't the most regular places that every traveler already knows of. These places make for a fun getaway in town and would also make for a whole experience that you ought not miss.
Perfect place to spend your Saturday morning! The most popular farmers market in town and also the oldest one has a lovely vibe with delicious food and local fresh produce. Would highly recommend if you're looking to explore the local scene in Kathmandu a bit more.
I'd highly recommend the stall serving Burmese food. Don't miss out on their noodles!

FARMERS MARKET AT LE SHERPA

This Newari restaurant is popular for its ancient Newari architecture that they've beautifully managed to bring to life in modern day Kathmandu. This restaurant is an entire experience of its own and you wouldn't want to miss it if you are interested in the cultural side of the city.

A bit far from Thamel, this place makes for a lovely halfway getaway. This Newari restaurant is popular for its ancient Newari architecture that they've beautifully managed to bring to life in modern day Kathmandu. This restaurant is an entire experience of its own and you wouldn't want to miss it if you are interested in the cultural side of the city.
One of my favorite palace squares, Bhaktapur makes for a lovely getaway exploring ancient palaces and architecture. At the moment, the pottery square here is quite famous as you get to make your own piece of pottery and take back home.
Also, you ought not to miss the "JujuDhau" which translates to the King of Curd. Its without a doubt one of the most delicious yoghurts you will ever taste.

Durbar squareOne of my favorite palace squares, Bhaktapur makes for a lovely getaway exploring ancient palaces and architecture. At the moment, the pottery square here is quite famous as you get to make your own piece of pottery and take back home.

Sightseeing
One of my favorite places in Kathmandu is this park where you can relax and unwind amidst the hustle and bustle. The garden was a part of an old palace right beside it. Add this to your list if you would like to get some instagram pictures or relax. Best to visit at any time of the day.

Many travelers have Nagarkot or Dhulikhel on their list but these places are ideal for a night's trip. If you cannot make a one day trip, I would recommend going to Chandragiri hills. There's a cable car that takes you up the hill where there's a Hindu temple and you can enjoy the lovely views of Kathmandu city along with the Himalayas, if the weather is good. You can also choose to go to the resort that belongs to the same company for a good dip in the pool and a better experience all in all.
