Hikes, Parks & Sightseeing within 20 Min Drive

All suggestions are within a 20 minute drive time radius. We recommend looking up hikes on AllTrails.com to get a better idea of what to expect. Our suggestion for a full day: - Breakfast at Espresso Creek or at Cane Beds - Morning hike at Water Canyon Trailhead - After the hike, stop by Maxwell Park to refill water & enjoy a lunch - Come back to Cane Beds to relax/take a break - Head to Coral Pink Sand Dunes ($15 entry) about 1.5 hours before sunset to sled down the sand dunes ($25 sand sled rental) and enjoy the sunset
One of our favorite hikes for guests to explore! This local hike mimics the views of Zion National Park without the crowds: free parking, a family-friendly hike along a river, between two canyon walls, and up to a mini waterfall. Open year-round, the average hike time is 2 hours. We recommend hitting this hike in the morning (grab coffee at Espresso Creek on the way) or in the evening (start time around 5:30) to avoid the sun during the hike.

State Park located 20 minutes from us that is our top suggestion to catch sunset and sand sled down the coral pink sand dunes (they offer rentals at the front entry station). $15 park entry fee, $25 to rent sand sleds and sand snowboards. Open year-round, family-friendly, great for photos. Try to avoid the middle of the day as the sand gets very hot. Also, advise leaving shoes in the car and walking through the dunes barefoot. Time Spent here: 1-1.5 hours

Kanab, Utah (40 min) Suggestions

Kanab is a great town 40 minutes from us- mostly known for The Wave, visitors tend to miss out on SO MANY amazing hikes, caves, canyons, and tours that have way fewer crowds and don't require permits. Our suggestion for a full day: leave Cane Beds in the morning and head to Moqui Caves, then Belly of the Dragon. Stop at Wild Thyme for lunch and then head to the Toadstool Hoodoo Trail for a hike to the toadstools. If you still have time to catch the sunset, you can stop by Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park on the drive back to us and watch the sunset there.
Very short hike to a large cave, maximum time spent here 30 minutes. Very family-friendly with one-of-a-kind views. We suggest guests combine this with Moqui Caves to get the most out of their time in Kanab.

A short hike up a rock wall will take you up to beautiful caves (don't be confused by the Moqui Cave museum, the parking lot for this trail is located past the museum on the right of the highway). Time spent here: 1 hour max, more of a scenic view than a hike Time of Day: any time of day, but it is a great spot to catch sunset! A full day could be, from us: Leave Cane Beds in the morning and head to Sand Caves then to Belly of the Dragon. Lunch at Wild Thyme Cafe and then hike the Toadstools in the late afternoon/early evening to avoid direct sun and catch the sunset at the Toadstools!

2-mile round trip, family-friendly hike that takes you along a sandy trail to beautiful toadstools. Lots of canyons and scenic views to explore, we suggest starting this hike in the morning or late afternoon as most of it is in the direct sun. Very close to Paria Townsite, a must see if you're in the area.

A MUST-SEE! This is more of a scenic drive however you are free to hike at your own risk (no marked trails). We don't want to spoil it, but there's nowhere else in the USA where these types of views exist- you will truly feel like you're on another planet! Paria Townsite is located 11 minutes from the Toadstool Hoodoos hike so it's a good idea to take the scenic drive through Paria before or after your hike.

A hike through sand dunes brings you to a beautiful slot canyon hike. We highly suggest booking a guided ATV tour to get you through the sand dunes to avoid a very long trek to the slot canyons. We advise you to look up the trail on Alltrails.com to get a better idea of what to expect. Companies we suggest: Kanab Tour Company, Coral Pink ATV Tours- let them know we sent you!

Zion National Park Suggestions

Zion National Park is the top reason why guests book with us and it's easy to see why- the park is absolutely stunning! Mostly known for Angels Landing and the Narrows, we wanted to give you more options if you want to avoid the crowded hikes and get the most out of your stay. Our favorite way to explore the park is to skip the shuttle and book an electric bike! This allows you to see the park in a truly unique way and on your own schedule.
This hike does not require a shuttle pass and tends to be less crowded than other popular Zion hikes. We suggest looking up this hike on AllTrails.com to get a better idea of what to expect.

*A permit is needed to hike Angels Landing, please visit National Park Website for more information* The most famous hike at Zion, expect large crowds! If you are planning on doing this hike, make it the first hike of the day and try to start as early as possible. We do not suggest guests hike this in the middle of the day as it gets VERY hot and VERY crowded. This is a difficult hike that will most likely take all day and we suggest guests hike it during off-season (late October-early November & March-early May).

Check park websites to ensure you have the right car

Any car is safe to get to us at Cane Beds Corral and all of the National Parks; however, if you plan on visiting BLM land (ex: Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness) or off-beaten hikes double-check to make sure you don't need a 4x4, truck etc.

The Annual Park Pass is only $80.00

If you plan on visiting more than 2 National Parks within a one-year window, you'll save money by purchasing the annual park pass (most park entry fees range from $20-35/each). They can be purchased at all National Park entry gates and are good for 2 people for a full year of park fees!

Zion Shuttle or Bike Rentals

The shuttle at Zion National Park can be the biggest hiccup on your trip. Tickets are first come first serve and the line for the shuttle can take up a lot of your day. We suggest booking electric bikes before your visit, they allow you to skip the shuttle, enjoy the park at your own pace, and bike right up to the trailheads. If you are set on the shuttle, be sure to make it to the park by 7:30AM to avoid parking issues.

Be prepared for the weather and outdoor living

Although we offer a lot of great luxuries, we want to remind guests that you will still be "camping" in a canvas tent in the desert and there are environmental factors that are out of our control. A few things we suggest packing: - layers to sleep in if you tend to get cold at night - bug spray, citronella candle - flashlights to get around at night - a bath caddy to carry your toiletries to and from the bathhouse - slippers

Grocery items we suggest if you plan on cooking on site

In our grilling area, we offer: 3 gas grills with a burner attachment, a skillet, a pot to boil, all necessary cooking utensils, roasting skewers, a kettle, a french press for coffee, coffee mugs, a cutting board + knife set, basic seasonings and oils. We also provide a large cooler to all tent guests. For our tent guests, we do not provide: personal cutlery, plates, bowls or cups, ice. Items we suggest you purchase: - coffee (we provide a french press and kettle to boil water) - foil - ice - plates, cups, and plasticware - storage tupperware if needed for extended stays

AllTrails.com is a must-use resource to get info on trails

AllTrails.com is our top suggestion for researching trails/hikes. AllTrails gives insight on trail locations, time it'll take, difficulty, what views to expect, and a map overview of the entire trailhead. It is free to use but if you purchase a subscription, it allows you to download the map and trails to ensure you always know where you're headed even if you don't have service.

You will lose service, make sure to screenshot all maps!

Throughout your time in this area, you are bound to lose cellphone service. Make sure to download all routes if possible and screenshot any maps, directions, etc. to minimize the risk of getting lost.

There are so many lesser-known places to explore in the area

Southern Utah is one of the most geographically diverse regions in the United States with so many lesser-known/less crowded places waiting to be explored! If you are an experienced traveler looking for off-the-beaten-path spots, we suggest: Vermilion Cliffs National Monument (White Pocket), Paria Townsite, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, Gooseberry Mesa Biking Trail, Grand Staircase National Monument (Wirepass to Buckskin Gulch Trailhead), Snow Canyon State Park, Sand Hollow State Park (cliff jumping & swimming)
