Don't feed the deer
Deer are EVERYWHERE in Iron Mountain... You'll see three of them going to get your mail. So watch out while you drive, especially during dawn and dusk. Many does have young fawns with them who do not watch for traffic. Also, please do not feed the deer as it is not healthy for our abundant ecosystem and often attract bears, raccoons, and other unwanted scavengers.

Extreme Weather Changes
Be prepared by bringing extra attire for your day on the water or the trails. It is not uncommon in the U.P. to have 50-degree temperature swings within a matter of hours (even more extreme weather changes are common along the Lake Superior and Lake Michigan shorelines
