This little gem of an independent restaurant is less than a 5 min walk from the house. It serves freshly cooked and very delicious Italian and Mexican food - book early for eat, or phone up for a take away (you have to pop round to collect) and get 10% off. Our favourites are the fajitas (on sizzling platters), and the enchiladas. The garlic bread and pizzas are also fantastic! They don’t have a ‘children’s menu’ as such but they happily make most pizza and pastas in a half size when you order, and a ‘half size’ portion will feed even the hungriest of children.

The best breakfast in Sheffield for sure! This little cafe is staffed by adults from the charity Work Ltd. All the proceeds go the charity and the food is just unbelievably amazing! You can also buy things they make in the workshops, cards and gifts. The location is a little quaint... as it’s tucked away behind the Bents Green Special School, but it is signposted from the main road, and you can park by the playing fields next door.

Mouthwatering steaks and seafood! I can not describe to you the quality of the food here - it’s def a date night special for us. The sharing platters are just out of this world taste wise. It’s all locally sourced (fresh fish brought in from the coast daily). It’s def not somewhere we take the kids, as we’re a large family and the prices reflect the quality, so it’s not a budget family restaurant.

This is our all time favourite ‘eat in’ Chinese in Sheffield. Family run it serves delicious home cooked food, has an extensive menu and is family friendly if you need to take the kids. Parking is metered on the road outside (70p per hour). The area is full of different international restaurants, we’ve heard good things about lots of them, it can also be busy on a weekend evening, so best to go at lunchtime or on a quieter midweek / Sunday afternoon or eve. It’s open all day!

The cafe is at the start of a walk down by the river Rivelin. You can walk (or cycle) for miles into beautiful countryside starting from this cafe, past old water wheels and historical boards about Sheffield’s steel industry. Often busy as it’s a favourite Sheffield families place... it’s at the start of an 8 miles off road walk or cycle on an old railway route. Whirlow Hall is a working farm and charity with farm shop, butchers and cafe in the barn. Hillsborough is home to a great selection of useful shops (most things except clothes). Local cafes and take aways in abundance. It’s home to a number of supermarkets, and a fabulous park (especially for duck feeding)... new cafe coming soon... It’s well connected by bus and tram to the rest of the city. Hillsborough has a college, a football stadium, a racetrack and casino (all down at Owlerton walkable from the house). You won’t find posh or designer in our neighbourhood, but you will find good honest Yorkshire folk!

A local market town, with cafes and shops (not a great number). Good place to plan a walk from (the Transpennine trail runs straight through). Like a step back in time... the local independent cinema is unique, and there’s a cycle hire shop if you want to get cycling. http://visitpenistone.co.uk
If you don’t want to go to Meadowhall, and have finished at the city centre. Fox Valley makes a nice change. About 15/20 mins drive from the property... a few different shops and free parking.

Wentworth garden centre, cafe and grounds. Great afternoon trip. Not far away is the NT Wentworth Woodhouse property, also worth a visit.
