a favourite of mine, very small attractive market town full of history with excellent cafes ( try 'Kitchen' and ' That tearoom') and a couple of Coops. a good all rounder.

The Humble Merchants in Market Weighton
a beautiful cafe and shop. definitely worth a look.
This is the sister shop of Dilly Dally in Pocklington which is 15 mns drive away
if you feel like a little retail therapy, this is actually as pleasant as a shopping centre can be!

This is a highly popular small street in York full of excellent independent shops and cafes ( my favourite is the Pig and Pastry , Robinsons is also super).
A real treat where you will find all you need ( apart from clothes come to think of it!) , flowers, delis, lovely bread, fruit, veg, groceries, butchers, a kitchen shop, great gift/ home shops, 'the Bishy way', Pextons old fashioned hardware shop, a pharmacy and so on!
