After strolling along the Budello you can go to the sea front promenade and straight to the beach! Day or night, have a little cafe or a nice aperitivo in the many bars of the Alassio movida, while tasting amazing pizzas, focaccia, farinata, sandwiches, ice cream cakes , granite, beers, cocktails, etc.. Sightseeing

Medieval Savona offers enchanting views recalling the florid city it became between the 15th and 16th Centuries. This was when Popes originated from the local Della Rovere Family. There is actually a Capella Sistina in Savona!! Next to the old resides a modern city with renewed docks and fun attractions. The Pinacoteca Civica of Savona is an excellent Ligurian gallery of paintings on wood and splendid polyptychs, ceramic vases and wooden sculpture works, dating from the 14th Century to the current day. Savona has also gained a nice repitation as a recent "foody" destination & has great little burger joints & cafes in Via Pia.

In Toirano, there is an extraordinary ensemble of caves, important both from a naturalistic and historical point of view. There are spectacular decorations made of stalactites and stalagmites and also some of the most ancient prehistorical remains from 300 000 years ago. The caves are famous for being the largest cave-bear graveyard in Europe and one of the very few sites where they have found remains of the Homo Heidelbergensis, an archaic relative of the Homo Sapiens. It's a cool visit - nice when super warm outside - and it's about a 1h/1h30 activity once in the caves.

The Sistine Chapel of Savona!

The most famous Sistine Chapel in the world is indubitably the one in Rome, site of the conclave where new popes are elected. But there is one also in Savona, Liguria, bearing testimony to the city’s role in the history of Roman Popes. Pope Sixtus IV, in particular, born Francesco della Rovere in 1414, was originally from this area. His papacy (1471-1484) famously coincided with the launch of the “renovatio Urbis”, the urban transformation that lead to Rome’s transformation from Medieval to Renaissance city. The Sistine Chapel in Savona was built by Sixtus IV as a mausoleum for his parents.
