The beginning of this 2.6 mile trail is across Pennsylvania Ave, a short distance from our house. The trail is paved and follows the East Branch of the Brandywine River. You'll see people walking their dogs, running, and biking on ther path, as well as people fishing along the river.

Great spot in walking distance from the house, right in the borough. They have a great selection of local craft beers, specialty from scratch cocktails, and awesome tacos. We're big fans of the fried avocado taco. Also great outdoor patio and dining areas.

Downingtown Log House
4 - 10 E Lancaster AveThis isn't actually in the Borough, it's more of a 15-20 minute drive. There's lots of trails in the surrounding area for hiking and mountain biking, and you can rent canoes and kayaks to spend time on the water.
However, you could make a long hike of it and take the Struble Trail to the Uwchlan Trail, all the way to the end at Dorlan Mill Road, walk up about a quarter of a mile to the start of the Marsh Creek Trail Head. Be careful on the road, there's no sidewalks. Took us about 2 hours on a Saturday morning once.

Located about 25 minutes away, you can easily spend a whole day walking around the many gardens and conservatory, the historical houses on site, and dine in at the Cafe. If possible, try to get tickets for a Fireworks and Fountains show, it's amazing.

1001 Longwood RdLocated about 25 minutes away, you can easily spend a whole day walking around the many gardens and conservatory, the historical houses on site, and dine in at the Cafe. If possible, try to get tickets for a Fireworks and Fountains show, it's amazing.
About 15 minutes away, this historic barn is a maze and passageways of so many books to thrift.

This is the closest area for the majority of your clothing and retail shopping. The Exton Square Mall, Target, and most major retail stores can be found along Business 30 and Route 100. There's also some good food locations to check out, as well as Round One, an arcade/bowling/billiards/karaoke/ping pong funspot which also serves food and has a bar.

This is also the home of West Chester University, which is a beautiful campus to tour.

We're about 40 minutes-1 hour drive away from Philadelphia, depending on what location you visit and what time you travel. The Downingtown train station runs Amtrak and Septa lines regularly into the city from our location.
