Parks & Nature

You can walk along the river either into Shoreham or out along the Downs link. Turn left out of the house and walk to the bottom of the road. Turn right, past St Nicholas church and the Red Lion Inn. Cross the busy road with the roundabout and you're at the river. You can cycle along this flat gravel route to Bramber, which takes about 20-30 minutes.

Shoreham beach is really lovely, clean and quiet! A complete contrast from Brighton's bustling beach. There's a great playground opposite, on Beach Green (by the beach huts). Shoreham had the UK's first film studio, because the light is so beautiful. It's also known for kite surfing, as the wind is just right.

A large, nice park and kids playground, and right opposite Tesco express if you need supplies. There's a cafe by the playground too with home made cakes (Cupcakes Cafe)

This is actually a pub, but I've put it in parks and nature as you can rent rowing boats there and it's really picturesque. There's a foot path along the rive too. It's in Barcombe, near Lewes. The food is great at the pub.

Drinks & Nightlife

Brighton has it all. A touristy pier with your standard slot games, an amazing music scene, great shopping (The Lanes are more hip and high end, the North Lanes are more hippy and alternative). The Brighton Pavillion is well worth a visit. The Brighton i360 offers great views.

Cosy 16th century pub on your doorstep with low beam ceiling and a roaring fireplace. The food ok, but only ok... Go to the bottom of our road and turn right, past the little church (St Nicholas church)

Essentials

This is the huge Tesco store, on the holmbush roundabout. There's also a Harris & Hoole coffee shop and Next clothing and home on the same roundabout. There's a small Tesco express on Upper Shoreham Road, opposite Buckingham Park, and a Co-op around the corner from the train station (on Ham Road). I like to shop at the health food store, opposite St Mary's Church in the centre of Shoreham, and Ginger & Dobbs, the green grocers next door.

Getting Around

Trains run regularly to Brighton (every 15 minutes or so) and London (every 30 minutes). They stop around midnight. Check NationalRail.co.uk for train times. The 700 bus goes to Brighton from the High Street, but is quite slow.

A beautiful old town, about 20-30 minute drive from Shoreham. It's where the famous Lewes fireworks take place on bonfire night. If you go to Lewes in the summer, it's well worth a stop at the Beanstalk Tea Gardens. It's hidden along your country walk, with tents serving delicious cakes on quaint tea sets. The garden is lush. It's so hidden, they don't have a website, but just the facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/BeanstalkTeaGarden/
