Food scene

Split is the capital city of Croatian gastronomy scene, so I really care that you find great our best tavern and restaurants which are little gems, mostly located in our neighborhood :)
It is a special little tavern (for 20 guests only) with top quality fresh seafood, which comes daily from local fishermen and great traditional meat dishes. Everything here is genuine, homemade and delicious. It is THE place to try PASTICADA (Beef stew with gnocchi) and Black squid ink risotto. Despite a simple appearance this is a second home for many famous Croatian actors, painters, journalists and writers whose books sit on the shelves.

Konoba Fetivi is put in Michelin guide, and this is Michelin Guide's point of view: «Run by a family with strong roots in the region, this authentic "konoba" (tavern-style restaurant) is dedicated to serving local specialities, which include meat and fish dishes (the top-quality fish is a little more expensive than other options on the menu), as well as old family recipes such as the excellent apple strudel.» This konoba has very nice atmosphere and it has authentic Dalmatian dishes. Try here Octopus stew!!!

Lovely and friendly little restaurant located just 3 minutes walking from JoJo. menu and atmosphere is enticing enough. The menu boasts everything from homemade tortillas for their sea bass tacos or pulled pork tacos, pulled beed pitas, tiger prawn bao, sea bass ceviche served with mashed peas and sweet potato chips, vegan curries and pates like homemade chicken liver served with roasted pepper relish of caviar made with Sriracha and balsamic. One thing is for sure: this new fusion style restaurant has thus far had full tables, good energy, and even more positive reviews.

Since March 1, 2018 they've been included in the Michelin Guide Croatia for 2018., and have received a recommendation from the world-renowned institution. Creative Mediterranean cuisine, directed by a top chef ready for endless challenges. Ingredients are always fresh, locally purchased and processed so that all the benefits remain in them. Relax with a wonderful million dollar view of the old city of Split, the sea and the luxury yachts. Try the shrimp and monkfish carpaccio, handmade pasta, freshly caught fish, as well as carefully selected meat dishes. Here you can try top quality local wines from small Dalmatian wineries, but also the world's top wines. In addition to local gourmands, especially yachtsmen, the food and service of Zrno Soli (Grain of Salt) has impressed many world famous people and celebrities such as the Danish Queen Margrethe II, Thai Princess Mahidol Bajrakitiyabha, Guns N' Roses, Zucchero, etc.

Villa Spiza is very popular among locals; it is great little eatery with simple, but tasty comfort food, which is fresh and locally sourced. There is a daily menu based on what’s available and fresh. If you are looking for a fine dining and intimate atmosphere, this is not a place for you. But if you like authentic, fresh and unpretentious food, prepared in a simple way (real Dalmatian home-cooking), this is a place to choose. Tiny eatery is tucked away in an alley in Split’s historical downtown, and can accommodate only 8 people, so, to get a place is kind of a gamble. Run by two sisters Gamulin, the restaurant is centered on a long counter. Eating at the counter makes you feel almost at home as you watch them prepare food in front of you. Menu often change and all dishes are totally yummy (pumpkin soup, chicken pâté, bruschetta, beans with a sausage, sauerkraut with a sausage, lamb chops, boiled baby beef, grilled tuna steak with Swiss chard…) This little hole in the wall place could be a bit difficult to find, but don’t just give up. If you get lost, just ask locals.

This restaurant is one of the biggest hits from 2014 season. This is a fine and big restaurant compared to most others in Split, but it’s far from cold – the interior design is modern and charming. What’s on offer here is seasonal, with ingredients supplied from the local produce and fish markets. The dishes Bokeria creates are not simple traditional. The style in Bokeria’s cuisine is creative, inspiring and Mediterranean, something more than simply regional, from excellent vegetable concoctions to bruschetta to home made pastas and great risottos, to seafood, all the way up to steaks and beyond. Cookery, here, is not a chemistry. It is an art. Great deserts: panna cotta and rožada are my preferred. The wine list is representative with the finest possible Croatian selection. Recently they instigated theme nights, and occasional smooth live music, mostly jazz. Bokeria had great atmosphere, great food&wine and very friendly service. Sit at the communal table and make friends.
