City Palace is constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the year 1727. It comprises of several buildings, galleries, restaurants, courtyards and offices of museum trust. It was also the location of cultural and religious events as well as a patron of arts, commerce and industry.

The Palace of Winds named as Hawa Mahal by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1799. It is made up of red and pink sand stone and was designed by Lal Chand Ustad. The specialty of this pyramidal shaped monument is that it has 953 small windows called Jharokhas decorated with intricate lattice work. It has unique five floors with a rise of 50 feet from the ground level. The intent of lattice design is to allow royal ladies to observe daily life and festivals celebrated in the street.

Another name given to the fort is the Victory fort. It has a length of 3 KM along the north-south direction and a width of 1 KM. It is featured by the Jaivana cannon which was become the world's largest cannon on wheels. The cannon foundry had a massive wind tunnel that sucked air from the high mountains into its furnace creating temperatures as high as 2400 °F.
