A quick drive south to Jockey's Ridge Park is well worth the visit. These large dunes are some of the biggest east of the Mississippi and are actively moving. You will discover another world upon arriving! There are two ways to enter the park. The first is by parking across the street at Kitty Hawk Kites and making a direct approach to the sand dunes. The other is to drive to the park and take a hike to the dunes. Please note that the views are incredible but there is quite a bit of walking on loose sand and uneven ground. If you are able, its worth the visit and don't forget your camera.

Come and visit the site of Orville and Wilbur Wrights first successful powered flight! There is an interactive museum, life size and accurate model of their airplane, a hike to the top of the dune with the monument and more. There are guided tours in the summer months. There is a cost associated with the National Park so please take a debit or credit card. They offer family, senior, and group discounts so please don't hesitate to ask the park ranger when you check in.

Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is great way to see the daily catch of fish from one of the sport fishing fleets. The captains go out daily to catch tuna, mahi-mahi, wahoo, king mackerel, and more! You can book a charter there or just head down around 3PM to see the boats come in with their catch. There are restrooms, tackle shop, gift shop, and a convenience store on site. There is also a public boat ramp and Coast Guard station on site.

The prices are comparable and often less than the chain grocery stores, plus its a local catch and you will be supporting a local fishing family with your patronage.
