Neighborhoods
Good places to visit if time permits. If you don't make it this time around it'll be another reason to return.
Always a great place to visit lot of great food, galleries and historic sites. Definitely plan on staying in Lahaina for the day as there are other things to see and do besides Front Street. If you are there for Halloween it's a must do!

Head to www.mauifridays.com to find out what's going on around the island. It rotates to the same town each month and I believe Kihei is the 4th Friday. Lot's of local food and vendors.

Casual place, good local food. It's tucked away in the back of the Rainbow Mall shopping plaza. Parking can be tight but it's worth it. The original restaurant is still open in Kahului.

Same as the mainland chain - Safeway, Vons, Randall's, etc. Your points and savings follow you with your phone number. As in all island grocery stores prices are significantly higher. Be Prepared!

Sightseeing
It's good to plan ahead to fit as many sights in. Just don't take away from enjoying the few spots you actually take time to see. You don't want your trip to paradise to be a blur.
Remember there could be a next time. . . .

Iao Valley

2. It's COLD (even during the summer months). So pack accordingly. (we have an extra blanket in the bathroom closet.)
3. Pack a small cooler for breakfast or snack type items. Especially if you plan to hike the crater.
4. Don't forget sunscreen!
5. Pack out what you pack in.
6. STAY ON THE DESIGNATED HIKING PATHS!!

Maui Beaches
Things to keep in mind:
- Always leave valuables in your hotel or condo.
- Take lots of sun screen & WATER.
- If you decide to swim alone let someone know what beach you are going to visit and roughly how long you'll be gone.
- Please pick up after yourself. Remember that you went to the beach to enjoy its beauty so don't leave anything behind that will affect another visitors experience.
- Not all beaches have life guards so be wise. Playin on the shore is just as enjoyable as catching a wave.
- HAVE FUN!!
Cómo moverse
Kihei Traveling
Kihei is a small town roughly 20mins from the airport. If you decide not to rent a car there is a local bus service that travels along South Kihei Road. Keep in mind like any mass transit there can be delays.
There are mopeds and bicycles to rent. Just be safe and use a helmet.
If you truly have no time restraints and want to walk, there are sidewalks along South Kihei Road. Please note there aren't street lights on certain sections so think safe.
Uber/Lyft are options just not sure how big their driver pool is.

When leaving . . .
Kahului Airport only has a general TSA line and TSA Pre-check. There is NO First/Business Class or Priority lane. There is 1 main section that only has 3 lanes. They will open another TSA checkpoint but it's only 1 additional lane. There are a good amount of afternoon/evening mainland flights so TSA can take a long time to process through.
I've heard of a TSA website that provides lane times but never found them to be accurate for Maui.
Plan your leave day as you would not want to miss your flight and be forced to pay fees. . . .

Besides Groupon and other online websites Hawaii offers a cute free magazine that speaks to highlights on each island. Look for it at any coffee shop, ABC store or grocery stand.
It's compact, its free and it's got some great coupons inside.
