Albanya is not easy to find but we think it is worth the trip as what seems a small and seemingly sleepy village actually has a big heart and soul. It is in the heart of a stunning valley and there many things go on here and this place is the entry point to many beautiful hikes and bike rides in the Bassegoda Nature Reserve. Just up the road, 1km from the village is the Bassegoda Park campsite where you can camp or rent bungalows or tents or lodges, play mini golf, rent mountain bikes, organise trips to go fishing etc. In the same location is Albanya Astronomic Observatory with a huge telescope inside the Dark Sky Park - a great evening out discovering the heavens. Book in advance in peak season.

This lovely village has a weekly market on Wednesday mornings; a great mini supermarket with very friendly staff which sells even vegan veggie burgers, organic coffee, great wine, fantastic breads....and has several very good restaurants. In the Summer there is the riverside Moli d'en Robert (closed in the Winter) which offers al fresco dining with a riverside view, pool and river pools; La Quadra offers excellent 4 course Catalan meals with gluten free options; Bar Pau offers really friendly service, a social atmosphere, great coffee and homemade pizzas...
