All you want from breakfast. It's not necessarily the best biscuit I've ever had, but it's fast, affordable, and cooked fresh. They also have pancakes and french toast, and all the other usual breakfast suspects. Very kid friendly!

Easy Hikes
This is one of our favorite stops on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's about 20 minutes from the house. The hike is short (less than a mile), but steep, but we've done it with gaggles of small children. The view from the top is amazing. The parking area has restrooms and picnic tables and makes a great spot for a picnic.

This is one of our favorite stops on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's about 20 minutes from the house. The hike is short (less than a mile), but steep, but we've done it with gaggles of small children. The view from the top is amazing. The parking area has restrooms and picnic tables and makes a great spot for a picnic.
The Pisgah National Forest is home to a gazillion waterfalls. A great day trip entails a scenic drive through Highway 276. You have so many stops to choose from, but this is a favorite of ours that we return to over and over. The hike is beautiful, but not strenuous that ends at an interesting waterfall that is great fun to play in. After you're hike, make sure to stop by Looking Glass Falls, which is viewable from the road for another photo worthy view!

Moore Cove Falls
The Pisgah National Forest is home to a gazillion waterfalls. A great day trip entails a scenic drive through Highway 276. You have so many stops to choose from, but this is a favorite of ours that we return to over and over. The hike is beautiful, but not strenuous that ends at an interesting waterfall that is great fun to play in. After you're hike, make sure to stop by Looking Glass Falls, which is viewable from the road for another photo worthy view!
A great spot for all seasons! An easy walk along a beautiful river. The visitor center at the beginning of the trail has a historic homestead site that kids love to explore. I've used a stroller on the trail pretty easily. In warmer months, there are definitely spots to splash (Ocunuluftee Island Park).

Oconaluftee River Trail
Oconaluftee River TrailA great spot for all seasons! An easy walk along a beautiful river. The visitor center at the beginning of the trail has a historic homestead site that kids love to explore. I've used a stroller on the trail pretty easily. In warmer months, there are definitely spots to splash (Ocunuluftee Island Park).
4-6 mile hike that's completely flat. So many spots to splash in beautiful creeks. Lots of cool plant life and bridge crossings. We really love this spot and do the hike over and over again without tiring of it.

A really beautiful and easy hike that's about 45 minutes from the house. The hike is located in the Shining Rock Wilderness Area and is very kid friendly with some excellent views and picnic spots at the top.

Big Creek Trail is great fun. It follows Big Creek and is relatively flat. There are lots of spots to get your feet wet including Midnight Hole, one of the best swimming holes around. We usually stop there and turn around, but if you go a bit further, you hit the major event Mouse Creek Falls.
