Toronto Life writes "This two-year-old spot, a short skip from Sandbanks Provincial Park, is a summertime seafood oasis. Fresh-shucked oysters, hot-buttered lobster rolls, cozy campfires and a to-die-for gin smash are all there for the taking. It’s also the seasonal home of Sweetgrass Brewing Co., and it offers a selection of local craft beers. The joint’s sprawling property, dotted with giant oak trees, plays host to a Full Moon Yoga Festival every August, providing a calming counterpoint to the beach-bash vibe. 1705 County Rd. 12, 613-503-0498, sandandpearloysterbar.com."

Toronto Life writes "Pastry chef Enid Grace—who was born and raised in Prince Edward County—spent a good deal of time cooking in European kitchens before opening what has become one of the area’s most in-demand breakfast destinations. Inspired by the food philosophy of rural Italy, where freshly prepared dishes are intended to sell out before the day’s siesta, Grace has created her menu with indulgence in mind. Favourites include croque madames with house-made French bread, country ham and creamy béchamel; French toast with fresh berries and lemon curd; and a gorgeous brie and sunny-side-up egg breakfast sandwich that sells out on the regular. All items pair well with a traditional Italian coffee, of course. 303-1 Wellington Main St., enidgrace.com."

Located in the former 66 Gilead Distillery (on a property that’s home to an entertaining group of chickens and peacocks), Kinsip offers tours, guided tastings and whiskey barrel–aged maple syrup. Toronto Life Writes "In P.E.C., where the winery tour culture is still relatively young, some stops can be underwhelming. But Karlo Estates is the antithesis: the 38-hectare grounds include woodland for hiking, and the chatty owners, vintner Richard Karlo and artist Sherry Martin, host tastings in a newly refurbished 1845 barn that’s set up like a wine bar. They’re into unpretentious education, and they pair each sample ($1) with a simple snack (nuts, cheese, chips) to show neophytes exactly how food and wine work together. Serious oenophiles stop in for rare finds, like Karlo’s unusual white port (ask P.E.C. food insiders for a local gem and they name it), and art lovers deke up to the barn’s loft, where Martin runs a small gallery. 561 Danforth Rd., Wellington, 613-399-3000."

Considered somewhat of an anomaly, as no one has yet discovered its source, the Lake on the Mountain is a must-visit in Prince Edward County. Located in the west of the County near the small community of Glenora, the Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park covers an area of 257 acres. It's 60 meters higher than Lake Ontario, and is well worth a visit. From the parking area, a scenic viewpoint is easy to access and offers incredible views over the Bay of Quinte. It's also a lovely spot for a picnic. Afterwards, head into Glenora itself. Here, you can hitch a ride on the Glenora Ferry into Adolphustown across the Bay of Quinte; you can even take your car, at no extra cost.

Opened in 2022, the Quinte Museum of Natural History is not only the newest major attraction in Prince Edward County, it's also one of the most interesting. Set in a 5,000-square-foot former warehouse space, just a short drive from the National Air Force Museum of Canada, the museum is home to a surprisingly large collection of casts of original dinosaur bones. Laid out in a series of galleries with easy-to-follow explanatory notes, these full-scale skeleton casts include everything from carnivorous dinosaurs such as velociraptors to armor-plated and horned beasts. It's a fascinating and kid-friendly collection that takes around an hour to visit, so be sure to include it in your Prince Edward County travel itinerary — whether you're traveling with kids or not.
