Sightseeing
Not as well known as Glacier National Park, but full of beautiful alpine hikes. I recommend either going to Mt. Annaeus or hiking to one of the many small lakes (jewels) in the area. HIGHLY recommended. One of our favorite places. Note: from mid July through September, when huckleberries abound, you MAY see a bear, unless you sing or talk loudly with companions to alert the bears to your proximity. Might even be a good idea to have a can of bear spray and stay together as a group. Bears are more afraid of humans than you are of them, IF they know you are close by.

This is a great hike, about 10 kilometers long but only moderate difficulty. The lake at the end is really nice. A favorite with locals.

A bit of a drive, but the trail is relatively easy (our children could do it, though small ones will probably need to be carried towards the end). Seeing the waterfalls at the end are really special and the view of Holland Lake is also wonderful!

This is a great place to go canoeing, hiking or huckleberry picking!! There are numerous trails to hike. Talk to a Ranger or you can compare different options at the following website: https://www.alltrails.com/us/montana/hungry-horse. Highly recommended!

This is a great local place to go if you are interested in going snowmobiling during the winter months! They are also stationed in Hungry Horse, just down the road from the cabin. Check out their website at https://www.glaciersnowmobile.com/ and see which of their snowmobile packages works for you!

Family Fun Activity
Our summer in Montana is not complete without a visit to this fun and VERY family friendly waterpark. Super fun. Plan to spend the whole day there. You will be grateful! You can even bring your own food.

This is a fun day for the family, but it's not quite as large, fun, or relaxed as Big Sky Waterslide, especially for older kids. It can still be a fun place to go, though. See Google reviews regarding swimming requirements, etc. Some older kids might still need to wear a lifevest if they don't meet the swimming requirements. Find discount coupons online.

Ski resorts don't just get used in the winter! The Big Mountain Resort has different activities to do as family or with friends in the summer. Our kids like the Aerial Adventure Park but the Alpine slides are also nice. Their Asian Peanut Salad is as good as Bangkok's. And don't suppose you can eat an entire burger by itself. Garlic fries there are amazing. Get their sampler of beers they brew onsite. Call ahead to make a reservation!

There are multiple Montana Coffee Traders around the valley. They have been around since I was a young child and they are definitely one of the best. If you like coffee and see one of their shops, you should definitely put on the brakes and grab something!

Their coffee (any variety or creation) is amazing, and their sandwiches and pastries are also beyond delicious! Great for a breakfast or coffee stop on your way into the park!

The food is amazing, and the atmosphere energetic. Located just off the lake in Lakeside, MT. After dinner stop at the city park on the right and hang out on the beach. It's usually pretty peaceful in the evening and not very crowded. A great place to go!

It MAY have been a "supermarket" when built years ago, but is now more like a country store. They carry all the basics and have the BEST fried chicken in the Valley at their small deli. For more of a "real" grocery store, go to Smith's in Columbia Falls. You can stop at Montana Coffee Traders on the way for a Montana Souvenir and snack or sandwich, and Smith's also has a nice variety of Montana Souvenirs in the far back left corner of store.
