Favorites for Eats and Drinks
Here are a couple of our recommendations for places to eat and drink around Helsinki. Many are casual local spots, ranging from restaurants to quick snack spots to cozy cafes. Enjoy and happy eating!
Rune's is a great spot for lunch or dinner that is located around the corner from our place. It is a full service restaurant, bar and cafe. The atmosphere is sophisticated and modern with large windows and low lighting making it ideal to enjoy your meal slowly while people watching. It is a little more expensive, with dishes ranging from 15 - 25 EUR but sometimes they offer specials.
We recommend: The Black Angus Burger

This place is a local favorite for wings and finger food. It is a 5 minute walk from our place and has a great selection of wings, sides, sauces, and beer. The decor is almost overboard with pirate and nautical touches everywhere. The prices vary depending on how many wings and if you get sides or not.
We recommend: the 10 piece wings with the Hot Sauce (A little heat, but not too spicy) with a side of fries.

This secret local cafe is actually hidden inside a church. Many locals don't even know about it! it is bright and charming and definitely worth the hunt to find it. Be warned though, check the hours as this cafe is only open certain days and for short times.
We recommend: everything makes a great Instagram picture against the whitewashed tables.

23 TehtaankatuThis secret local cafe is actually hidden inside a church. Many locals don't even know about it! it is bright and charming and definitely worth the hunt to find it. Be warned though, check the hours as this cafe is only open certain days and for short times.
We recommend: everything makes a great Instagram picture against the whitewashed tables.

We Recommend: the daily curry never disappoints and is served with a side of rice, the fried rice is delicious and the street tacos are a great lighter option.

One of the last places in the city to still offer a burger and fries for 10 EUR. One of our favorite lunch spots, both for us and to bring friends. It is a series of "stations" where you order different food from each. They have a salad bar, a flatbread selection, burgers, a bar/cafe, and grilled sandwiches. Between the stations are several sitting areas with different decor and design for each. It is a casual and laid- back spot within the center or the city. It can be hard to find and the layout can be a little confusing but the staff are very helpful!
We recommend: the burger station (all the burgers have great flavor and come with fries) or the grilled sandwich station.
