The National Trust property stands on a small island in Mount's Bay. The small town of Marazion is immediately adjacent and has car parks, gift shops and pubs. Best to park the car in one of thre car parks on the fringes of the town and walk though. St Michael's Mount is accessible via a causeway at certain states of the tide and when the causeway is covered there is a boat service. https://www.stmichaelsmount.co.uk/

The small village of Mousehole (pronounced "Mouzel"!) is situated on the edge of Mount's Bay. Fishing boats lie in the small harbour and it is recommended that the car is left in the car park at the entrance to the village and that you walk around. Just before you get to the village along the road from Newlyn is the old Penlee lifeboat station. It was from here in 1981 that the lifeboat "Solomon Brown" went to the aid of the vessel "Union Star" after its engines failed in heavy seas. After the lifeboat had rescued four people, both vessels were lost with all hands; in all, sixteen people died including eight volunteer lifeboatmen. All of the lifeboatmen came from Mousehole and their loss is still commemorated to this day by the switching off of the well known harbour Christmas lights for an hour on Christmas Eve every year.

The clifftop theatre at the Minack was built almost singlehandedl, other than some hep from her gardenere, during the 1930's by one woman, Rowena Cade. Overlooking the bay at Porthcurno, basking sharks and dolphins can sometimes be seen from the theatre during performances, which are held notwithstanding rain. The theatre is open for visitors when there are no performances in progress. There is a small cafe and gift shop.

As well as the Minack Theatre, Porthcurno has a splendid beach, which for many years was the terminus of telegraph cables over the world. There is also an interesting telegraph museum - send and decode Morse code messages, go underground in World War 2 tunnels, get hands on with science, and head on a family-friendly trail around the museum.

The road runs out at Land's End and then there is nothing between us an America but the Isles of Scilly (never call them the "Scilly Isles"!) and a lot of water. Throughout the year, there is a charge to park your car, motorcycle or motorhome at Land’s End. An all-day car parking ticket gives you the chance to discover all of our facilities and explore the 100 acres of natural landscape owned and maintained by Land’s End. There are shops and various cafe's and restaurants as well as the "First and Last" pub in England. Remember - if you have a cream tea - and they are recommended - always put the jam on first, then the cream, unlike the "Cousin Jacks" over the Tamar up in Devon.

Trencrom Hill is on Age hill fort, maintained by the National Trust. It is worth either a scramble (on the steep side) or a stroll up the easy side! From the top you can see both St Ives Bay and Mount's Bay and much of the countryside of West Cornwall. It is about a ten or fifteen minute drive from Heather Lane. Take the St Ives exit from the big roundabout before the Hayle bypass and at the bottom of the first hill bear left at the two mini roundabouts. You will then be on the Old Coach Road to St Ives. Watch for a turning on the left to "Trencrom" and continue to the base of the hill where you will find a very small car park at the bottom of the steep climb. To find the "easy" side carry on along the road, bearing right until you come to a small narrow car park on the right.

Chysauster is one of the best-preserved ancient villages in Britain. A close-knit community lived and worked here between the late 1st century and the end of the 3rd century AD, a time when much of Britain was under Roman rule. The villagers lived in stone-walled houses, each with a number of rooms arranged round a courtyard – a unique house layout found only in late Iron Age and Romano-British settlements in western Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. There are approximately 15 unmarked spaces in the free site car park, which is located 1/4 mile downhill from the shop entrance and roughly 1/2 mile from the main site. Visitors will need cross a "C" road on foot after parking. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE VILLAGE IS CLOSED FROM NOVEMBER UNTIL THE END OF MARCH

As well as the Tate Gallery, St Ives has a number of other galleries and many eateries and gift shops along the harbour front. The ligfeboat house may be open during your visit and is worth a half hour of your time. During the Summer it is recommended that you don't drive to St Ives as parking is difficult and the main car park is at the top of a steep hill and steps from the town. It is easiest to take the train from St Erth station, where there is a park and ride. This runs around the edge of St Ives' Bay giving good sea views during the short 15 minute trip. Trains run from St Erth approximately every thirty minutes. The last train returns from St Ives at about 2230
