Food Scene

Goleta and Santa Barbara offer excellent food options from craft breweries to fancy restaurants. Current Covid restrictions don’t allow indoor seating but Our beautiful weather makes eating outdoors preferable anyway. Or do take out and find a beach or the spectacular Court House Sunken Garden downtown. I have noticed some places closing by 8or9 9pm so plan ahead.
There are about a dozen restaurants here, mostly local. Anna's Bakery is a local breakfast hot spot, and the turkey provolone croissants are delicious. They also have doughnuts, bagels and pastries. Starbucks is also nearby for the addicted. Blenders in the Grass is a delicious local smoothies chain. My favorites are the green tea smoothie and the blue banana smoothie. Los Agaves is another local place with noteworthy Mexican food. YUM! From salads to enchiladas or kid friendly quesadillas, you can't go wrong here. Jane's is a drool worthy menu of local and fresh American food mostly. A nice dessert spot too. Kahuna Burger, Pascucci's and Jersey Mike's are good too!

Sightseeing

You just can't come to Santa Barbara without seeing the spectacular 1929 Spanish Moorish courthouse. On weekends you will stumble across weddings in the sunken garden it is so pretty! Don't forget the observation deck for amazing views of SB and the ocean. Often has evening events in summer outside.

Arts & Culture

Santa Barbara has endless festivals, most of which are pretty darn good! Earth Day started here, Old Spanish Days Fiesta in early August always sells out, the crazy Summer Soltice Festival in June, and both the French and Greek festivals are worth doing. Pick up the free Santa Barbara Independent to see the current offerings.

Parks & Nature

During low tide Hendry's offers the best tide pool bets. Make sure you go to the right though, the left is the dog side and you might get run over by wet, sandy, playing dogs! Dolphins are not uncommon here, so eat at the Boathouse and keep an eye on the water.

Shopping

On Sundays (and some Saturdays during the summer) there is an Art Walk down along Cabrillo Beach. Some of everything! A nice way to get a stroll along the beach and shop too. Most things are locally made by hand.

Entertainment & Activities

Technically I think they call this place a museum, but that conveys boredom to a lot of people. This is NOT boring. Super interactive and fun for ALL ages.

The SB Zoo is absolutely lovely. Small enough to walk around, with some impressive and very well cared for animals. Ride the Zoo train, feed a giraffe, see the gorillas, slide down the "ant hill" too.

Love this place, and could spend hours here despite the relatively small size. Touch a sand shark, hold a sea cucumber, pull sand up from the ocean floor and put it under a microscope to see what is hiding. Loads of fun. Be warned, the ice cream sold a few doors down is crazy expensive.
