Food Scene
If you love grilled fish and seafood the "Zona Ribeirinha" is the place to eat, its one of my favorite places. There's an area of many restaurants almost at the end of the promenade (shortly before the bridge) that you access by walking through a tunnel under "R. Serpa Pinto" street. Check out Grilled Sardines and the Clams (Ameijoas a Bulhao Pato), or fried baby squid (Lulas A Algarvia).
Another favorite in the "Zona Ribeirinha" is the outdoor cafe by the fountain, also excellent for Portuguese pastry and a cold drink under a shady umbrella.

The entire " Serra de Monchique" (Monchique Mountain) has an abundance of sightseeing areas & trails, including the typical town of Monchique.
If you enjoy therapeutical relaxation check out "Thermal Spa of Caldas de Monchique located at the middle level of the Foia Mountain overlooking the coast of the Algarve. Surrounded by eucalyptus trees.
