Sintra is the true and unique capital of Romanticism. – “Sintra is the only place in the country in which History has become a garden, because all its legends converge there and its very monuments speak less of the past than of an eternal present of greenery. The memory even of tragedy vanishes in the air or grows green again in the ivy of an ancient wall. In Sintra one does not die – one passes alive to the other side, because death is impossible in the vigour of beauty. And the memory of what has passed remains in it to give succour.” 'Louvar Amar' (“To Praise, To Love”), Vergílio Ferreira

The MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology is a new cultural proposal for the city of Lisbon. A museum that combines these three fields in a space for debate, discovery, critical thinking and international dialogue. An innovative project that brings together a new building, designed by the architect Amanda Levete, and the Tejo Power Station, an example of Portuguese industrial architecture from the first half of the 20th century, and one of the most visited museums in the country. MAAT reflects the desire to present national and international exhibitions with contributions from contemporary artists, architects and thinkers. Contemplating great themes and current trends, the programming will also present diverse curatorial views on the EDP Foundation’s Art Collection

MUDE is a museum that generates a network of synergies with schools and universities, business, museums, cultural and creative institutions, a living place, comprehensive and active, multigerational, transverse to all society. It is a place where the other artistic expressions and fields of thought find their space for dialogue with design, a space for discussion about experimental creation and industrial production, the relation between design/art/crafts or today urban, socio-economic, environmental and technological challenges. Increasingly real is the name that has given birth to its designation: the word MUDE (change, in Portuguese), imperative form of the verb to change, expressing one of its missions: - to contribute to the formation of more informed, aware, critical and creative users in order to achieve a change of attitude towards material cultures and life itself. To this extend, MUDE is a cultural centre beating in the main artery of the city, with areas of exhibition, diffusion, creation, interaction, education and debate.
