Food Scene

It has the best tasting Indian food in Camden. We love the Mughlai Korma (beef) and their Garlic Naan. If you aren't into spicy food ask for low spice, and you should be fine. My mum is fine with that and she doesn't eat spicy.

It's such a peaceful setting, and the food is lovely. Your can sit either inside or outside. They are open for breakfast as well as lunch, or simply coffee and a cake. The scones soft and delightful, with the recipe coming from the the owners grandmother. The added bonus is that you can burn off your meal by riding your bikes, or walking through over 20km of paths within the Australian Botanical Gardens, Mount Annan.

Thierry and his team make great pizzas, plus they serve truly tasty Italian food. Consistently great food. Depending on your mood you can either eat in the Pizzeria, or the Restaurant. The restaurant is on John St, and should not to be confused with Barenz cafe which is on the main street.

We love it for a coffee, or breakfast when I've ridden my bike into town along bike path that follows the river. They have outdoor seating under the trees, or you can sit indoors.

'This is Thai' serves great tasting Thai food. We think this restaurant has a slightly more authentic menu and taste than Fan Thai across the road. They are both great places to eat and can get very busy.

D'lish is your go to deli if you like fresh and healthy sandwiches - they make great sandwiches with ham cut off the bone. They also hand-make all their cakes, and their coffee is not bitter, which makes its perfect for a quick pit-stop. If your down the other end of town, and looking for ingredients for a picnic then Camden Gourmet Deli which is located in the Camden Arcade is your other option - they have a wide selection of cut meats, and cheeses - far more than D'lish.

They make the BEST jam ball doughnuts in the district. Sooo tasty, plus their pies are pretty good as well - real chunks of meat. They don't open Monday or Tuesday (we found out the hard way!).

Back Galley serves consistently great food and coffee. You can't go wrong with their menu - we like it for their Eggs Semi, and House made Granola Served with yogurt, berries & syrup. It's another place I like to ride my bike down to and sit outside with a coffee.

Entertainment & Activities

In addition to a lovely course that is approx 10min drive from our home, Camden Gold Club has a restaurant called "The View". It serves a better than average club meal, and the drinks are cheap as well. We like their Garlic crust pizza entree, mum always gets the pan fried barramundi, and all of the beef comes from the Southern Highlands. They also offer a free courtesy bus which runs from Wednesday to Saturday starting at 6:00PM. Please call to book on 02 4646 1203

Camden Valley has the unique ability to host hot air balloon flights. It is a truly magical experience - starting very early in the morning. There are 5 freshwater lakes, and as kids we used to catch guppies off the pier. Not so much water these days... The trails are great if you like bushwalking. There's a trail that runs approx 6km around the lakes. There's also a picnic area where you can BBQ.

Belgenny Farm is "Birthplace of Australia's Agriculture". Belgenny was the home farm for the Camden Park Estate and it is here that the Macarthur sheep flocks were brought. The descendants of the original Macarthur flocks are at Belgenny and the vineyard again produces wine. Belgenny remains a working farm. If you've never experienced a saleyeard, here's your chance! Tuesday and Wednesday are the sale days when local livestock goes under the auctioneer's hammer. I still remember coming into Camden with our dad for sale day, and being allowed to buy a Passiona soft drink and lollies at the refreshments shop next door.
