This is an amazing place to go Mountain Biking. Lots of steep trails around glacier formed lakes. Trails range from easy to very technical. There is even a short technical test tack near the trailhead. The single track John Muir trails get very crowded with fast bikers on weekends, so its not a safe place to hike. Use the Nordic trails across the street for hiking.

Take a hike in the Kettle Moraine State Forest
The last ice age glacier stopped just south and east of Whitewater. Numerous trails intersect throughout the Kettle Moraine state park. The Kettle Moraine is a hilly terrain that was created by the front of the glacier from the last ice age plowing the rocks and sand from Canada and depositing them here, in our back yard. The Ice Age Trail is a 1200 mile trail in Wisconsin that follows the deep kettles and steep moraines left behind by the frontal edges of this glacier.
