The 15th century Gatehouse is the sole survivor of a small Benedictine Priory. The Wetheral Caves (St Constantines Cells) are a short walk away, along the river, through Inglewood Woods. These caves are cut into the rocks and overlook the River Eden. They were used as a refuge for the monks.
