Hiking

Mount Sentinel M trail A hike to the 'M' is a favorite Missoula outing for people of all ages. After just a few minutes on the trail, you begin to get a birds'-eye view of the University of Montana. As you gain elevation, the view expands to include all of Missoula, the valley, the Clark Fork River and distant mountains. Distance: 3/4 mile to 'M' and 1 and 3/4 miles to top of Mount Sentinel

Super beautiful hike with a stunning view of Missoula. Hiking it in the day and at night are totally different experiences. A few different paths diverge and give you nice options to mix it up, but signs help you stay on track and not get lost. Highly recommended.

The 1.5 mile Barmeyer Trail is Missoula's newest addition (June 2018) to its extensive trail network. Located on Mount Dean Stone, the trail leads from the heavily forested trailhead off Pattee Canyon Drive to a grassy overlook with an incredible view of Missoula.

Blue Mountain Nature Trail is a popular trail and a stopping-off point on your way up Forest Road 365 to the Blue Mountain Lookout. The path is on a fairly level grade making it quite accessible to young children and people unable to take strenuous hikes. https://www.allmissoula.com/parks/blue_mountain_recreation_area.php
