La Festa makes some of the best brick oven pizza in the area. You can get individual slices or a full pizza, and they also make a great gluten free pizza. My favorite is the buffalo chicken!

Lovingly dubbed "The Nub" by locals, this lighthouse is an iconic destination in Southern Maine. It sits on a rocky island just across a channel and is the perfect photo opportunity. It's close to Short Sands and Long Sands Beaches and Fox's Lobster House is right next door.

A hidden gem, Stonehouse Pond has a wonderful hiking trail that leads to breathtaking cliffs which overlook the water below and beyond. I don't recommend hiking to the top of the cliff if you're scared of heights!

If you're taking a trip up to the White Mountains, Diana's Baths is a necessary stop on the way up. It's a short half mile hike in to these stunning waterfalls that have carved out pools of water at their base over thousands of years. This is a popular spot in the summer, so I recommend arriving early to get a parking space. As a bonus, you can stop by Cathedral Ledge which is only a few minutes down the road. It's a grueling 1-mile hike to the top, but the views are beyond worth it.

Summertime? Bring a sweatshirt anyway.

Temperature swings are a common occurrence in Maine. If you're planning outdoor nighttime activities, I always recommend packing layers just to be safe. A light sweatshirt and a pair of sweatpants is always a good idea.

Fall or Winter? Coat and beanie.

Even in the fall, it can get chilly so if you're not willing to take any chances, a coat or vest would be a good idea. I often wear a hat that covers my ears on colder days, and gloves for the winter will help.
