The take away cafe has a small selection of soft and alcoholic drinks, hot food and snacks. It’s a great spot for an evening drink al fresco in the warmer months, when they occasionally have live music.

Moonfleet is forever bound with Falkner’s classic 1898 tale of smuggling, published in 1898. It’s everything you would expect from an English country manor. Surrounded by gorgeous scenery, I personally love it here for the afternoon tea and a walk around the Fleet. They also have a spa and pool if you want to treat yourself to some pampering. It’s just a ten minute drive from where you’re staying.

This quirky little cafe and restaurant offers quality local food and drink, and a weekly Paella night in the summer. You’ll want to save your visit here for a sunny evening - this Chesil sunset rivals any I’ve ever seen!

The best seafood restaurant in town (in my opinion). The Crab House Cafe is a fine dining restaurant with a relaxed, beach vibe.

A cosy pub with an open fire for those chilly winter days, or outdoor pizza oven and often live music events in the summer, set in the quaint village of Sutton Poyntz. There’s a pretty little stream and a walk up to the famous White Horse hill, with stunning views across Weymouth Bay.

This cool beachside diner has a great little menu - I highly recommend the chimichanga (deep fried cheesy meaty goodness 🤤). They also have a fantastic cocktail menu. If you fancy a go at paddle boarding, this is the perfect spot and you can hire a board or have a lesson from Portland SUP.

Beaches

A 20 minute drive from where you’re staying, Ringstead is a pebble beach and a nice change from Weymouth Beach if you want to get away from the town. You can park at the top of the hill for free and enjoy the walk down but a word of warning - it is quite steep on the way back up so pack light! It’s a popular spot for paragliders which makes for good spectating.

Durdle Door’s less famous sibling, Lulworth Cove is the cove prior to it. A beautiful spot that’s worth stopping in at on your way to the bigger attraction round the corner!

About 25 minutes in the car, Abbotsbury is a quaint rural village with a few local shops and galleries. There’s an easy walk up to St Catherine’s Chapel, which offers panoramic views over the Fleet Lagoon and sea.

Take the scenic coast road to Bridport, a small market town about 40 minutes away. They have a cute market selling local produce on Wednesdays and Saturdays and there’s loads of cafes and pubs to choose from as well as shops to browse - vegan cafes, a zero waste shop and a selection of bakeries are just a few of the highlights. You might want to continue along the coast road to West Bay, Lyme Regis and more picturesque coastal villages. There are so many great places to eat, walk and enjoy in this part of the county and I’d be happy to provide more suggestions if you need them!
