My favorites include their cheese curds + a gin and tonic when out with friends, and their pizzas are my husband’s choice, and their steaks + pasta are wonderful. No better eatery + cocktails between SF and Portland.

A great, old-school bar that often has live music, casual atmosphere, a ton of history, and a small but mighty grocery section. It’s absolutely worth the 10 minute scenic drive south on highway 3 to check out historic Callahan.

While walking in downtown Etna is a breeze, public transport is minimal and you'll want a car with you to get around.

Secluded from large crowds, Etna locals appreciate guests who refrain from littering and leave outdoor spaces as they found them.

Traffic
Traffic will be different in Etna for most of you. If you are slowed while on a roadway, it will be for deer, cattle or farm equipment. Deer are active near roadways most often after sunup and at dusk. They are a herd animal, traveling one after the other across roads, so if you see one, SLOW DOWN, and look for their buddies on either side of the road. Don't swerve to avoid hitting, as that's a common way to cause an accident.
Cattle and farm equipment are moved on main roads outside of Etna commonly. If you happen upon cattle in the road, slow down and wait for someone to wave you around.
