Sightseeing

You could stroll for hours through the various garden exhibitions, sit by the lake, feed the ducks (BYO bread), go for a meal or coffee. The Japanese gardens are my favourite. Can take scooters for the kids too!
This is a really great nature experience. You can catch a bus there or its about a 15 minute drive away. Hold a koala for a photo opportunity, hand feed lorikeets, watch the birds of prey show (where eagles swoop in and land on the handler), watch a working sheep dog round up sheep, and see a sheeps wool be shorn. Also see wombats, birds, kangaroos, baby animal nursery. A full day out of family fun. Its on the river so can get cool. Look up on the internet before you go, they sometimes have twilight markets, or free outdoor movies out on the lawn

This is in the heart of Brisbane on the opposite side of the river to the city. Here you will find cafes galore, Brisbanes artificial beach and lagoon (its pretty awesome), also in the vacinity of GOMA (Gallery of modern art), QPAC (Queensland performing arts), science centre, and the cultural forecourt where there are often exhibitions going on.

Drive (or walk from the flemming road track) to the cafe at the top of Mt Coot-tha. It looks over Brisbane city and serves cafe style food and drinks. View is fabulous!
