You can walk into the slum, one of Africa's largest, or watch it from a distance on the rooftop. Worth a visit if you care about social justice, in/equality & socio-economic empowerment or just see & appreciate the sheer paradox of Nairobi

An historic yet up and coming neighborhood, Lang'ata is the home of many of Nairobi's food, entertainment and wildlife fixtures. Some of my favorites include outdoor restaurants like the Carnivore, entertainment joints and lounges like Club 1963, 1824, and Pitstop. Some of Nairobi's top tourist attractions also lie here - the National Park, Animal Orphanage, Sheldrick Wildife Refuge, Uhuru Gardens and the Bomas of Kenya. It's a good mix of people from all walks of life in terms of socio-economic backgrounds so you'll also get a real sense of Nairobi away from the beaten path.
A little up the road (about 10~15 minutes) is the also the leafier Karen suburb with its interesting places such as the Giraffe Center, Karen Blixen House (Museum), tons of fine restaurants among other outdoorsy attractions

This one is right within our compound so you won't have to walk far, just about 1 minute from the elevator/lift :).
In there you can do grocery shopping at Naivas Supermarket, enjoy coffee at the cafes, spoil yourself at one of the spas/barber shops, etc
