It is perfect for the windy days. The shore is clean and if you go early you can find good umbrella spots with thich shade.

If you do not mind traveling with a pirate boat for a couple of hours, Koufonisi is the island to visit. The boat starts from the Makry Gialos port. Cancel your plans if it is windy.

One of the best beaches of Crete. It is an hour and 20 minutes away from Makry Gialos. The road is good but full of turns. You can enjoy a natural clay bath or a good meal at the tavern Costas.
