Cafetería

“This is the bakery that brought bolo-rei (a crowned-shaped cake decorated with dried fruit that is usually eaten around Christmas) to Portugal and it still uses the same recipe as in 1829, the year it opened. Six generations later, Confeitaria Nacional is still run by the same family, though there have been some modernisations. In the summer months, it usually organises meals and cruises on a boat/restaurant with a view on the Tagus River.”

Teatro
“One of the most beautiful theaters with a long-standing history in Lisbon. It offers a fantastic variety of performances, particularly in early September, where the theater’s doors will open for ‘Entrada Livre’, a special program that includes shows in all the rooms of the theater as well as music concerts on the theater’s balcony. An evening at Teatro Dona Maria II is a great way to experience one of the most artistic places in the city in a different and unique manner.”

“1.5 km from Vila Queiros. One of the oldest churches in Lisbon. It’s a miracle that this baroque church dating to 1241 still stands, having barely survived the 1755 earthquake, then fire in 1959. ”

“Rossio Square is the popular name of the Pedro IV Square. It is located in the Pombaline Downtown and has been one of its main squares since the Middle Ages. It has been the setting of popular revolts and celebrations, bullfights and executions, and is now a preferred meeting place of Lisbon natives and tourists alike. The current name of the Rossio pays homage to Pedro IV, King of Portugal. The Column of Pedro IV is in the middle of the square.”

Plaza
“This square was use for roman circus with gladiators. It is an open space and it was the first area of Lisbon to be cobbled, as ordered by the King D.Manuel I. For a long time, we believed that the statue of the King D. Pedro IV in the middle of the Rossio Square was the statue of the mexican emperor Maximiliano. People use to say that the 2 statues were switched by mistake and that the real statue was sent to Mexico. But recently, the last analyses revealed that the statue has the look of our King and the Portuguese crest with the History of Portugal. See also Figueira Square (near) This square was not supposed to be a square and should have been rebuilt. The market use to use this location and the Hospital “Todos os Santos” (All Saints).”
