“This thermal park has great walks and mountain bike tracks as well as the natural hot pools. The pools have recently been upgraded and there are lockers available as well as a container type cafe available. Do use the lockers provided as this area is a spot where lots of things have been reported stolen. This is a cool little spot to experience the natural hot water pools.”

“Across the road is the walking path into the Botanical gardens, if you follow the path to the top of the hill then turn right when you hit the sealed road. ( 10-15 min walk) Walk along the road past the seat and about 1 min later you will see the path on your right which meanders through the fern gardens.( 10-15 min) All the paths are good quality and all weather. At the end you can either turn left back into the gardens, turn right and walk back down beside Shepherd Rd or turn around and walk back the way you came. If at any point you get lost there is a loop road which will take you back to Shepherd rd ( full walk around the road would be approx 30mins) To bike around the gardens come out of our driveway and turn right. Pedal up the hill and the entrance to the gardens is on the corner on your left. Bike up the driveway up and follow road signs. ( 10 min approx.) There is a wonderful view of the lake at the first seat and spectacular views of the mountains from the second seat and the memorial park has beautiful old trees and picnic tables. ”

“Napier’s Botanical Gardens are an 18 acre floral oasis in the heart of the city. At the lower end of the park there is a small aviary, duck pond and the remnants of two historic wells which were used over 100 years ago to help water and maintain the site. Several walking tracks wind through lush plantings up to the top end of the gardens - which are adjacent to the old Napier Cemetery and provide a solemn but fascinating insight into the history of those who once inhabited the township. ”
