“Bakers & Roasters is definitely the best breakfast & lunch place of Amsterdam. The line with waiting people speaks for itself. Toast, cerials, eggs, pancakes and fruits, smoothies, coffee's and latte's. The best way to start the day. 1e Jacob van Campenstraat near Marie Heinekensquare.”

“I don’t rent bikes since I own one. But if I needed one this would be the place. All the tourists ride on lousy bikes so I hope these ones are better. Anyway, I always go these guys if I have a flat tire or something with my bike. ”

“Like its counterpart in Beverly Hills, Amsterdam's P.C. Hoofstraat draws upper crust shoppers with its wide array of top designer brand stores. Set near Vondelpark, the street is technically in the Oud-West, but it has the patrician feel of the Museum District. You'll need deep pockets (or lots of plastic) to shop in this high-end paradise for design aficionados. Come for the latest collections of Cartier, Chanel, Diesel, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Hermès, Hugo Boss and Louis Vuitton. In addition, there are offerings from Dutch brands Oilily, Blue Blood Denim, G-star and men's fashion retailer Oger also have stores here.”

“Amsterdam is perfectly set up for getting on your bike - there are around 515km (320 miles) of dedicated cycle lanes. Renting a bike (fiets verhuur) is straight forward and will set you back from around € 10,- for a day rental for a basic back-pedal single gear bike. Cheaper rates per day can be had if you rent for a longer period or rent in a group. There are a number of rental outfits around the city. Zwarte Fietsenplan is on these and just ariund the corner.”

“Cold beer and (inexpensive) wine. There is no cold white wine at the Albert Heijn supermarket so go here. Open until 10.”

“Hard to put this one into a category, since it is basically everything. Good for some typically dutch food like a stroopwafel and great coffee places all around. Also possibly the best place to get some good deals on fruit, veg, fish and nuts. Generally something to see, walk around, hear market people yell in Dutch and meet all kinds of people and you can buy less standard souvenirs as well.”

“This is a great market for getting food and groceries! There are typical Dutch treats (stroopwaffels, poefertjes, etc) served fresh & behind the stalls you will find lots of fabric stores.”
