The attention to detail and the hospitality were off the charts. Kristie went above and beyond to create an unforgettable, immersive environment. Books of riddles, delicious pastries wrapped up like lembas, a hidden precious treasure, driftwood sink, the whole carpenter hobbit theme with whittling and the tree decoration on the door... it all comes together perfectly. We didn't want to leave.

Absolutely amazing! Exceeded our expectations by far. We came in the winter so the 4WD was a must, but it was beautiful, quaint, and very detailed. We loved the riddle books, cocoa, and local pastries. Worth every penny! Thank you, Kristie!

This experience was worth the adventure through snowy roads and hills to get there. We felt we were transported to Middle Earth and into this wintery, wonderland above the clouds. It was a magical, one of a kind, unforgettable experience that we can't wait to keep coming back to. One night wasn't enough! I'm so grateful for having this little gem close enough to home. It was the best experience for LOTR/Hobbit fans like myself to nerd out on the special, little details everywhere. It was the perfect way to cap my birthday month and welcome December with snow! We saw another hobbit hole structure in the making next door which we are so excited to be able to stay in once completed. It's going to be amazing once the planned English pub is also put in. We checked-out Downtown Chelan about 15 minutes away where we recommend trying the freshly made candied almonds at the Culinary Apple and the delicious pnw (as usual) beers and grub at Stormy Mountain Brewing. Leavenworth was also another amazing German town only an hour away from Chelan. Some tips from our stay: - Our FWD vehicle got stuck on the turn going up the hill, but was able to get out, make it to the Hobbit Inn parking lot at the top of the hill and back down with chains on. This was only at the end of November. I can imagine they would get more snow in the winter so AWD is definitely a must. Thanks to the Inn caretaker, Andrea, for bringing us chains and helping us get to our car and back. - This is an off grid experience so reception is poor and you will lose service. It is helpful to download the map/directions to the Hobbit Inn offline through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps since it will take you directly to the Inn. It was nice to have Maps access when we hiked up the hill since there aren't a lot of signage. - ‎Open the front door wide open when turning on the propane fireplace. We had the bathroom fan going and the speakeasy window open and the carbon monoxide detector still kept going off about 6x. It's pretty cozy and warm in the Inn though so we didn't end up using the fireplace that much. - ‎I took one of the previous reviewer's tip on here about bringing a cooler of food/drinks. We also were so glad we brought our backpacking stove to make hot meals with. The Inn was so nice and relaxing that we did not want to leave to go out to eat in town.

Where to begin! This magical hobbit hole was tucked in the Chelan hillside and I got to surprise my boyfriend with a long weekend there. There were so many cute touches we could not stop exploring the space. We enjoyed hiking, whittling, drinking tea, playing chess, and of course watching the Hobbit. Be sure to have a reliable vehicle to make the trek up he hill as it can get muddy or snowy (it did both while we were there). Can't wait to go back soon!

Loved the hobbit house. Great views and nice little touches throughout. The yard was decorated for the season which was nice. The widdling station was fun and the chess board was beautiful.

This hobbit hole is amazing. It looks exactly how I imagined a small hobbit hole to be right down to the green door. The woodwork inside is really cool and cute and all of the decorative touches really complete the fantasy. The view from the house is beautiful and it was fun to explore the hills. Kristie is so nice and helpful as well. We left one of our coats there and she mailed it to us right away. This is the perfect place to unplug and to let your imagination run wild.

Such an amazing place. We stayed two nights. The view is incredible, the hobbit hole cozy, warm and filled with thoughtful details. It is spotlessly clean and well taken care of for being such a destination spot. You would never know any dog had been in the house ever except for some little milkbones welcoming canine visitors. The listing is accurate in that a 4WD vehicle with clearance is a must in winter weather. The grade is steep, the road narrow and unimproved and the last mile is very slippery in muddy conditions. The jaunt up to the house from the parking area is slick in icy and muddy conditions but Kristie thoughtfully provides traction cleats. If you don't have 4WD, plan for visit for the summer, the vista is not to be missed. If you do have 4WD though, a winter visit is so worth it. To open the creaky, circular door at first light to a bracing cold wind and find the whole valley wrapped in marshmallowy mist makes it feel like The Hobbit Inn is in another world high above the clouds. Just stunning!

Aloha,

I am a proud Idaho woman who is passionate about living simply. I hand built a tiny 97 sq ft home out of sustainable materials several years ago and still live there today. In the winter of 2013 / 2014 I fulfilled a life long dream of building my very own treehouse that now I get to share with ya'll.
