Our 786-sq. foot, 1 bed, 1 bath condo has historic charm (19th century building), modern amenities (premium cable, wifi, full appliances),a perfect West End Location (1 block to Longfellow Square and some of the best dining in Portland), and lots of attention to detail (a fully stocked kitchen, beautiful art and other finishes, and a welcome gift on arrival). Whether you want a writer's retreat (we have a lovely office space), a foodie getaway, or a place that feels like home, welcome!
PLEASE NOTE: Price above is base only; varies by season and day of the week, and is inclusive. Airbnb collects 9% lodging tax from guests.
Our 786-square foot condo includes an entryway with office on the 2nd floor, and the entire third floor of a historic home in the West End. There is a well-laid out kitchen with a full-size stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher, as well as smaller appliances such as a wine fridge, coffee-maker, toaster, iron, and microwave. We love getaways to Portland and come up often ourselves, so we keep the place well-stocked; from nice knives, pans, and a 12-pc set of dishware to Turkish towels, you'll feel right at home here! Our kitchen even has a set of lobster crackers! Our home has 1 queen size bedroom and 1 bathroom, but our large living room also has a large couch and we have a queen-sized inflatable mattress, so we can (and often do) sleep 3-4 comfortably. Free laundry is available in the basement.
Please do note that our condo is a 2nd/3rd floor walkup, and our 19th century stairs are a little steep and crooked (they are over 150 years old after all!), so guests with significant mobility issues and/or fast moving toddlers might find the stairs a challenge. Our kitchen is in a late 19th-century addition to the building, and there are a few additional steep stairs to move from the main building to the kitchen wing. Likewise, our bathroom is a beautiful little blue jewel-box, but it is pretty small, with a stand-up shower and no tub. Parking is on-street, but I'll send you tips and tricks for how to navigate Portland parking.

We expect those staying with us to leave the apartment in clean condition and to have cleaned and put away all dishes. This is a smoke-free building, so no smoking anywhere on the premises. No pets. Please no candles. No attic access. We ask you to respect our neighbors, so no parties, and please keep noise down (we live on a quiet street). There is no parking in the driveway, although there is plenty of on street parking. We'd appreciate if you remove your shoes in the apartment, and there is plenty of shoe storage at the front entryway and rear stairs.
My husband Soren and I are doctoral students in Boston. We love Portland, Maine, and have been traveling for weekends here for years! We love staying in a place that feels like home, and getting a real home base while adventuring. That's why we've set up our condo in Portland the way we would love to stay in it, because we often do! I love travelling, and I've been to Greece and Turkey several times, so you might find a few evil eye charms lying around our place, and we have Turkish towels stocked in our linen closet!
