Look no further for your stay in the Italian Riviera. Marcella's place was the best Airbnb experience I have ever had (and I've had many) and she was the best host. The place is right on the water with a gorgeous view of the water and hills. A couple minutes walking from an excellent local restaurant. Easy to get to Rapallo or Santa Margherita walking (15 mins) or Portofino by bus or boat. The house is perfect for a couple and could probably fit another person or 2 on the futon couch downstairs. Gorgeous trails along the water right behind the house. Marcella picked us up from the train station. For my boyfriend's birthday she ordered a cake and left it at a restaurant where she had made us a reservation. She was extremely welcoming and gave us lots of helpful local recommendations. She also left a bottle of prosecco for us which we enjoyed next to the water right outside the back door. The place was perfect.
Casa Manuel is that piece of heaven on earth that one could only dream of. More than an apartment this place offers you a unique breath-taking location- a home with a small private beach shared by just a couple of neighbors. Casa Manuel is "out of this world"!! Shall one decide to venture outside the privacy of San Michele di Pagna, you will find Rapallo and Santa Margherita each a lovely 15-20 min walk in opposite directions, different towns each with its own unique abundance of lively ambiance. Marcella is the best, it was definitely a pleasure to meet in person. Her vibrant and friendly personality is contagious. She offered great tips: How to get to Cinque Terre or Portofino (very easy to visit), where to eat nearby La Cava (great Pizza a neighborhood restaurant run by a lovely family). The Habanero shack in the apartments private beach was also a cute little spot to grab a drink, a cappuccino, or just chat with the friendly owners. During our 4 day stay we immediately felt like part of the friendly community. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, waking up to that gorgeous ocean view from the master bedroom are memories that will stay with me forever. Confident that Casa Manuel is among the best decisions I have made in my life. Finally it is just a 45 min drive to Genova airport from where we departed. Casa Manuel is perfect!
Wonderful character apartment right on the water. Great location for exploring Rapallo, Portofino & The Cinque Terre. Marcella is a wonderful host and very welcoming and left lovely treats in the fridge on our arrival for us to enjoy! We'd recommend staying here and would love to return!
Marcella's place was great! It is right on the water which was amazing! You wake up and look out the window at the most beautiful view ever! It's 2 levels and fairly small, but perfect for 2 people! She had water bottles and prosecco in the fridge for us which was a nice treat! There are folding chairs and a table which we put outside and had a romantic dinner one evening. As always, I let the host know when we would arrive and she was outside waiting for us and also came to check us out and called a taxi for us as well. It is important to note that this apartment is in San Michele not Rapallo so you must take a taxi from the train station to the apartment which is 20€ (Each way). When we didn't have luggage we would walk to the port of Rapallo where all the restaurants and shops are. It is a solid 30 minute walk, but it's along the water the whole time so it's beautiful. I preferred staying in San Michele because it was quieter which I enjoyed. The apartment is on the water and the beach so it's nice to be able to go right outside to that if you don't want to walk to the other beaches. We did walk to the ferry in the port of Rapallo which we took to Portofino and then San Fruttoso which I highly recommend! We had a wonderful honeymoon here and would definitely stay here again if we're back in the Ligurian region!
Marcella was a little late arriving and when she did arrive she gave us a whistle-stop tour of the house. No recommendations of where to eat as other guests had mentioned, but maybe this was because she knew we had stayed nearby previously....? The house is perfect for 2 - not sure how a larger party would cope. Kitchen is really small, and washing up is a bit of a jiggle (thank you to the previous guest who had left the Ponti balsamic vinegar!) Washing machine was very useful, although drying clothes was more difficult as the lines outside the bedroom window were quite small. As the pictures show, the property leads directly to the beach and there are a couple of beach chairs to use. Being so close to the sea you do hear the sea and this was actually noisier than we expected. Being sandwiched between a main road and the sea meant the nights weren't particularly peaceful, so if you need peace & quiet on a night, this might not be the place for you. The internal decoration is well thought out and really makes you feel in holiday mood. The shower enclosure is huge (shame it doesn't have a rainfall shower head) but the water pressure is amazing and good consistent temperature. The bed is a proper double but was very creaky and DH did not find it very comfortable! TV is in the bedroom, with a DVD player, and the nice touch of a kettle. Marcella provided some nice welcome goodies, but I won't spoil the surpris. It is a very romantic place to stay, with good amenities a short walk (20 minutes?) to Rapallo/Santa Margherita and if you don't mind the noise from the sea and road, and want to be as close to the beach as possible you would love it here.
My girlfriend and I were very impressed with Marcella's Airbnb - such a great house with absolutely stunning views! The house is perfectly located in San Michele - a local fishing village, where we really did 'live like a local'. You can also walk into Rapallo and Santa Margherita for a more vibrant feel, where we had some great dinners. Thank you Marcella, we will be returning!
We had a glorious stay, swim and breakfast on the beach each morning which is directly outside the flat. Easy walk to nearby shop for supplies and short walk to Santa Margharita ( if it's hot better to get the bus which is just down the road). Marcella recommended the Pizzeria in Santa Michele, it was great and an easy walk. Bed was comfy, flat was stylish and had everything needed. View from the bedroom - amazing!
