Ubicación fantástica

Over-looking the old farrier’s yard, new and stylishly converted into a romantic hideaway, a stay at the Retreat will let you really relax and help you refresh yourself. The full suite of rooms on two floors, offers all year round cosy comfort and a refuge from a chaotic world in a hamlet tucked away in the folds of the hills behind Bruton.

El alojamiento
From the cobbled yard, the entrance hall leads either upstairs to where there is a luxurious bedroom with a sumptuous king-size Vi-spring bed, and en-suite bathroom. Large windows overlook the countryside, filling the room with morning sunshine. Downstairs has snug under-floor heating, a monsoon fitted shower-room, fully equipped kitchen adjoining a spacious sitting room with large windows, comfy sofas, bookshelves, cosy fireplace, wifi and the usual entertainment equipment.

“The Retreat is a lovely quite place to stay with very amenable hosts who are there if you need them but otherwise leave you in private. A great location for touring the local area. Particularly loved the spacious bathroom and the walk up to the bench to watch the sunset.” Andrew September 2018

Entirely self-contained and undisturbed, one can stay lazily ‘indoors’ for the entire time. Your hosts can be as invisible as you wish. Being a Retreat we respect our guest’s need for quiet enjoyment, but are just a phone call away.

“Relaxation in a beautiful setting with everything you need. Beautiful spacious accommodation with all the amenities and some added luxuries with a personal touch.” Jacqui July 2018

The area is famed for its choice of pubs, events, festivals and cultural activities. ... A framed map in the hall shows walks up Portway Hill through ancient woods. Amble along the ridge to Beacon Hill (think Spanish Armada) with magnificent views for miles or down along old drover’s tracks to funky Bruton for tea.

"The best part was hanging out in a beautiful place in the countryside and hearing the birds when we woke up. The place is absolutely stunning and perfect for country walks..." Charlie June '17

“A little hidden gem tucked away in the most beautiful rural setting.” July 2019

There is ample on site parking, however one can travel by train and finish the journey by taxi from either Castle Cary (10 minutes) or Templecombe (25 minutes) and we’d be happy to run you back to the station!

We very much look forward to seeing you.

Acceso de los huéspedes
All of the open premises. Unfortunately the three steps down from hallway to the kitchen and those up to the bedroom make this unsuitable for children and wheelchair access.

Otros aspectos para tener en cuenta
The bed is a V-spring Kingsize. It has a medium tension pocket sprung matress and sprung divan base for extra comfort. The pillows are feather and down and there are hyper-allegenic hollow fill alternatives available. The duvet is hollow fibre too.

If you have any allergies ... cleaning/laundry products or whatever, please let us know in advance so that we can make alternative arrangements.
