Valsavarenche is famous for being Re Vittorio Emanuele's favourite hunting ground in the 19th C, the lodges still exist and are one of the many venues and trails for mountain trekking. Famous mountainers have also passed through climbing the many peaks, including Gran Paradiso after which the park is named, and can be undertaken hiring local guides. The valley is the only valley of Valle d'Aosta created by a river, the Savara, rather than a glacier, therefore we have only a small ski-lift in Degioz, ideal for learning and snow board. Major skiiing resorts are within a hour drive. However, the vally having boasted many crosscountry campion skiers has an exception cross country piste. At Degioz there is a spa, tennis courts and skihire. The valley is very peaceful and quite, Our village is even more isolated, and being in the national park have wild animals regularly roaming around the village. They are all shy and although used to humans they keep their distance. All dogs must be kept on a leash.

This is a fantastic spot with beautiful views up the valley of Valsavarenche and with access straight on to a path taking hikers up to Levionnaz hanging valley and up to the beautiful Col Loson. The house is very well equipped and comfortable. Everything was very easy and instructions were clear.

It was a wonderful experience right in the middle of Gran Paradiso Park in a very quite and small village with stunning view! Location is quite remote, yet easily accessible. The villa is very well equipped with optimized space and everything to enjoy a lovely stay. We enjoyed a warm welcome from our hosts and did really appreciate this human touch to help us feel home. Thanks a lot for everything Andrew!

This is a lovely cottage with a fantastic view with 3 double beds. I would say the photos cannot do the view full justice. You can here the waterfall from the balcony. It is stylishly decorated but retaining a rustic charm. We came here with 4 kids from 3-10 yrs. It's almost a bit too nice for small kids...worried I was going to damage something nice (they were!). Finish of everything is high quality and it has the bits and pieces you need inc. good 3G signal! The bedrooms downstairs are minimalist, chalet style. The main room is really nice and spacious- stylish. The views from the veranda are simply unbeatable. There is no garden to speak of but space to wander outside a bit. 3-4 tourists a day come and stand in front of the house to get the view and take a pic...its that super. The house works fine for a family but would be fine for 2-3 couples or singles. The place is a small hamlet with nothing in it but 20 close houses and awesome views of mountain valley and water falls. The nearby (1/2m) village is a pleasant -20/30min walk away but has nothing except a tiny shop, bar, tourist office and a great little restaurant and a play ground! This is the biggest place in the valley which stops a few miles from the house. The Merlin style restaurant serves great Italian food...the other hotel restaurant is not so good. This valley is quite hard core- not many easy hikes. We over estimated how much we could do with our 3 yr old...last year we carried her! Lakes need a hike to get to. The people around are authentic hiker/biker types. Not a touristic valley compared to others. Awesome family rubber raft white water rapid trip at the head of the valley (Villefrance I think it was). Epic fun for anyone over 5. We enjoyed the Sky Ride up Mont Blanc which was ace fun even though only went half way as cloudy at the top. Turin was about 2 hrs away. Getting around here takes time...lots of windy roads.
