The straw bale guest house with 2 ft. thick walls is wonderfully cool in the summer heat, and cozy in the cold weather. We are located only two minutes drive from Boonville and all that its eateries and shops have to offer, in a very quiet and private location with extensive gardens and views out on hundreds of acres . Guests will be greeted by our very friendly Jack Russell who announces all arrivals but is otherwise not noisy.

El lugar

Up till now, this has been our guestroom as well as a music room, and everyone who has stayed in it loves the space with its deep cool in the hot months and cozy atmosphere in winter. The bed is queen size with a very comfortable mattress. Quality coffee and tea are available in the room as well as fresh fruit, and the clawfoot tub in the bathroom has a hand held shower. With no kitchen facilities, we prefer no food in the room and ask that guests eat out. Wifi is now available.

Disponible para huéspedes

The space is completely private and your parking is within 50 yards of the guesthouse, with a short walk along a garden path with a wisteria covered arbor. There is an outside light for later arriving guests.

Atención a los huéspedes

Our front door is always open and we're more than willing to assist in any way we can.

My partner and I were in town for a wedding in Philo this past weekend and I happened to stumble upon this lovely place just as I was going to give up looking and start planning a camping trip. I can’t imagine a more charming place to stay than Pippa’s straw-bale guest home. It met and exceeded our expectations. Check-in was super easeful even though we arrived later than we anticipated. The room is private and peaceful, though also easily accessible being just a couple streets off the main road. It just felt very cozy to me, and filled with character. It was such a blessing to have pour-over coffee each morning, too ;) We hope to be able to stay there again if we ever make it back up to the Anderson Valley area!

Pippa and Steve were great hosts. Pippa was very responsive as we coordinated the plans and ensured everything was set prior to our arrival. The room was exactly what we expected - nice and cozy feel as described by the site. We really enjoyed staying the weekend here - Thanks Pippa and Steve for sharing your home with us!

If you are expecting city-quality water and bathing this may not be for you. The hand-held shower is tolerable in the beautiful claw-foot tub, but the natural well water with sulfur odor was a little too much. It was an adventure.

Respuesta de Pippa:
I'm sorry that our rural living conditions didn't suit your urban standards. I provide as much drinking water as anyone needs and our well water has been tested within the last three months. It is perfectly safe and pure and the bath salts I provide override any odor from the mineral content in the water which is prevalent in wells in our valley. Our healthy family has drunk this water for 28 years.

Pippa's guest house was fantastic and exactly as described. The guest house is authentic straw bale construction. Despite the blazing summer heat in the Anderson Valley, inside the guest house was perfectly comfy and cool inside without any need for air conditioning. The room is cozy and the bed is very comfortable. The guest house is set apart from the main home and feels very private. The property is seven acres and feels very enchanting with tranquil bucolic views. At night, the sky is full of stars. This a gem of a place to relax, and enjoy all the peace and quiet of the country. The small town of Boonville is just down the road with cute wine tasting rooms, shops and restaurants. Pippa and her husband were engaging hosts, providing all the necessary information at check-in and respectful of privacy throughout my stay. I enjoyed meeting both of them and hope to return again some day!
