The area is peaceful, however in walking distance from the beach of Maleme with the taverns, the bars and the souvenir shops. West Crete is the side of the island where some of the most renowned beaches of Greece are found; Falassarna, Elafonisi, Paleochora. As you drive along the mountain roads you will meet many small traditional taverns with homemade cretan products.
