Qué vas a hacer

A Snorkel Sail on Conch West: a 45' sailboat with a spacious cockpit, ketch rig and plenty deck area to relax on. It is the ideal platform to explore and learn about Key West’s extraordinary underwater world. The trip begins by boarding 15 minutes prior to departure from Stock Island Marina Village. Once on the boat, the captain will give a short speech explaining the trip, safety and snorkel equipment and asking if our guests have any special requests for the two-hour sail. Conch West leaves from Stock Island, a perfect great departure point allows us to sail to an amazing snorkel spot and while giving us an opportunity for possible wildlife sightings. We can sail 7 miles out to the Florida reef, the third largest barrier reef in the world and the only living reef in North America. The snorkeling is a breathtaking and as the trip is 4 hours long you have plenty of time to enjoy the wondrous sights under the sea.
Other things to note
PLEASE NOTE: the price of $595 is for the entire boat and for 1 - 6 guests, NOT per person.

We provide a variety of sailing adventures, so feel free to call 305 587 4488 to hear about them!

Captain Seth Salzmann - A Key West local who has been sailing these waters for over a decade, giving him outstanding local knowledge of the weather and surrounding waters. In 2015 Seth bought an 80ft Historic Schooner - the glorious “When and If”, an all-wooden yacht built in 1939 for General George S. Patton and designed by John Alden. Having realised his dream of owning “When and If”, him and his younger brother Captain Dylan spend their evenings sailing her around the beautiful Key West coast, taking guests to the best spot in town to enjoy the sunset - from the water!

Dónde vas a estar

We sail out of the new Stock Island Marina Village and through the internationally renowned turquoise waters of Key West, out to the barrier reef. Our local Captain knows the best spots on the reef to see a multitude of tropical wildlife under the sea. We always have a chance to see dolphins, turtles and countless varieties of seabirds on the sail out too!

I'm very torn with writing this. My experience was unusual. I appreciate you sending me the picture of snorkeling to help remind me - however, we didn't have any snorkeling. Apparently the waves were too high. I never met Seth. Nor did I ever have any contact with Seth. The only person I heard from was Zoe - because apparently Seth was always out at sea. I received confirmation with specifics from Zoe (via email, not through airbnb) the day before. The weather in Key West had been bad - most all tours were cancelled for days. INCLUDING, the day that we went out. We were the only ones on the water. And the waves - yes, they were high. Two of us spent most of the time throwing up. Another was sick... Our 4 hour trip was 2 (yes, because we were so sick thankfully the boat captains realized this wasn't fun for anyone and came back in). In conversation with Zoe that morning she told us the waves were too high for snorkeling but maybe we could stop for a swim. She told us we would still have a "fantastic sporty sail." I didn't know that in sea talk that actually means high waves that will make you sick.... It was terrible. It was expensive. Our captains were wonderful. I'm confident that they knew we shouldn't be going out - but were told "to give us a good ride." We were in Key West for another 10 days. This trip could have easily been rescheduled. And SHOULD have beed rescheduled by the company. The Airbnb site that I registered with said that I had to cancel within 24 hours of booking. I asked Zoe the day before about cancelling and was told that call was made the morning of. And the confirmation I received the day before says cancelling can only be done 48 hours before (which I was already past). There were days following that were beautiful! And I'm confident this review would have been much different had we been able to go on another day. But, instead, I feel like someone in a front office took my family on an outing that bordered on unsafe. We never signed any releases which I also think is odd. We relied on the expertise of this company to make the right call regarding the safety and comfort of my family. And I feel they did not. This was a very expensive 2 hours -$644 plus tip plus car to and from. NOT in any way worth it. There are a lot of companies to choose from - I'd suggest to anyone that they choose another. I hope that these fantastic young men who work for this company and did take care of my family as best as they could, given the circumstances work for someone else as well.

Captain Dan and 1st mate Rory provided an exceptional experience today! Both men were highly professional and seemed to have a great passion for their work and the environment. There were just the three of us on the sailboat today, so it felt like an experience tailored just for us. Snorkeling was great today as well. Water was very clear and we saw many different species of fish. We also had the pleasure of 5-6 dolphins show up on the journey to the snorkeling spot. I don't like to do these reviews but this was quite an enjoyable, unique experience that I will definitely do again when we revisit Key West. The price was definitely worth every penny. There was fruit, water and soft drinks waiting for us on the boat after our 1 hour 30 minute snorkel. This is a must do on the list for someone that wants access to the beautiful blue, turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Reef is very much alive with plenty of fish to occupy.
