Qué vas a hacer

We will meet at home and we will taste my olive oil in my garden, at the foot of the hill where the olives are grown, then take a short lovely walk across the vineyard and the olive groves up to the top of the hill, where we will be welcomed by the most amazing view of the valley of Levanto, from mountain to sea. During the course of the tasting and walk our history, what was like to live and work here back in the day, and recounts of the older way to produce oil as opposed to the most recent techniques will be told, and after that we will move to the cooperative's laboratory to learn about today's olive oil production and buy products from the shop.

Born and raised here, my family bought the property in 1927 and we are the 4th generation to continue to live and take care of the area, comprising an amazing vineyard and olive grove with 300 olive plants.
I will be hosting this with the help of my cousin from the same branch of the family, who has the same interest in sharing our family history and the knowledge we inherited from our ancestors, with a focus on how this is being passed on and continued today.
This is our life, passion and tradition, join us!

Ein absolutes Must-Do! Abseits der ausgetrampelten Touristenpfade lernt man viel über die Ölherstellung und spaziert zugleich durch eine besonderes Anbaugebiet. Super!

We started our tour at Sarah’s home and felt very welcomed when invited inside to try the local olive oil. She has deep roots in Levanto and shares a very personalized tour through her families property. Sarah is extremely knowledgeable about her industry and the olive oil production process from vine to bottle. We had a great day and would highly recommend!

Really unique experience, very fun! Sarah was very friendly and easy to learn from. I really enjoyed seeing how much her family and ancestors put in to olive oil production. I was a little bummed that the olive trees hadn't produced this year but that was a factor outside of Sarah's control.

Sarah is a great host! My friend and I booked this experience for our trip to Italy because we wanted to see the olive crop that is so famous from the region. Our time spent with Sarah and in Levanto was lovely. We arrived at the train station and walked to her home (about a 15-20 min walk up some hills). The views on the walk were beautiful. When we arrived, Sarah welcomed us in and made us feel right at home. She treated us to some of her olive oil and told us about the history of her family farm. She is the 6th generation to farm this land! We visited mid-November, during harvest season, but they weren't harvesting because of a harsh summer. Sarah led us along the road to see the trees and tell us about them. We didn't go up into the groves because some recent rain made it unsafe to go up into the hills. However, we could see and understand what she was telling us about from the road. Then she drove us to the co-op, where they press the olives into oil. No one was pressing their olives when we stopped by, but Sarah was so kind to tell us about the process. Then we got to sample some olive oil, spreads, and wine produced by the co-op. All were delicious! After visiting the co-op, Sarah gave us a ride to the center of Levanto so we could do a bit of exploring before our train. Sarah is such a sweet soul- it is so clear that she loves Levanto and everything it has to offer.

Sarah and her olive oil... Sixth generation olive and grape farmer. She is gracious and such a nice person. She kept in close communication leading up to our tour. We had some rain and she offered umbrellas, which was very nice. She was able to tell us all about the life cycle of the olive and how it is harvested. We also lucked out because they were pressing olives at the co-op today! We were able to see the entire process in action. Absolutely fascinating!! We tasted olive oil and wine from her farm, there was tepenade, pesto and and anchovie spread. When it was over she and her husband drove us to the train station. It was nice to not have to walk in the rain. Her personal stories of the community and love for their olives was really great. Extremely friendly people whom we would love to visit again some day. If you decide upon this Airbnb Experience, you won't be disappointed! Just be prepared to walk for about 20 minutes from the train station to their home - a little hilly, but definitely manageable.

My wife spent an afternoon with Sarah recently, hiking through her family's olive groves and vineyards, learning about olive growing, harvest, and oil production. She had a wonderful time with a knowledgeable and immensely friendly host, made a warm, new friend, and felt it was one of the highlights of our trip through Liguria. Grazie mille!
